Player/ No/ Yds /Avg/ Long/ TD
Boo Williams 33 /348 /10.5/ 31/ 4
Ernie Conwell 26 /290 /11.2/ 32/ 2

I think the impact that Boo Williams has made on the offense has been huge. He's played far less time than Conwell played this year and has better numbers. Boo is 2nd in touchdown catches on the team. He is also only 3 catches behind our second leading receiver with 33 catches.

Boo Williams came in as a wide receiver and has bulked up to play the tightend position. Boo is one of the only players that has shown "sure hands" this year. I can't remember one pass that he has dropped this year.

I hate when any player get's hurt, but the injury to Conwell has opened the door for Boo to show what he can do. I think it will be hard for Conwell to get his starting position back,. I think Boo has the ability to be one of the best tightends in the league.

I've stated before that players don't seem to progress under this coaching staff. Well, here's one. Way to go Boo.......

I can only think of two. One was the first Tampa game, the other, I can\'t remember who we were playing.

We need to re-sign him ASAP.
He and Conwell give us a nice 1-2 punch.
We use so many 2-TE sets that I think both can thrive in this offense.
His blocking is improving as expected.
The only knock on him really was immaturity. They say he goof\'s off too much. I think he\'s matured quite a bit this year though.
I think its a given that we re-sign him.

Boo is a player, like several on this team, that has played well when he feels like he has something to prove. Then when he feels secure in his position as starter, he\'s slacked off. He\'s shown that before, and unless he has matured significantly over the last year, he\'ll show it again. Hopefully Danno is right and he has matured. In that case, especially as long as Conwell is around, I think Boo will continue to play very well.

I agree, Rich, I\'m not sold on this guy yet. I hope he proves me wrong.

I also agree completely. I put Boo in the category of \"almost elite\".
I wouldn\'t drop Conwell and give this guy the keys to the Porsche yet, but as a compliment to Conwell he\'s perfect.
I also think Conwell comes back and plays better next year.

I have no idea what y\'all are talking about. I don\'t EVER remember Boo slacking off. Now, I\'m not saying he hasn\'t, I just don\'t remember it. I think he\'s been learning the positon and has had his growing pains, but to be stating that he\'s slacked off and you expect him to do it again? What are y\'all talking about? Did I miss something last year?

Evidentally, you don\'t remember last year. He was extremely inconsistent. He might have been learning still, and that\'s fine, let him learn in the backup roll and two tight end sets. I\'m not dogging the guy, if he emerges, that\'s great for us. I hope he keeps it up.

I don\'t remember Boo playing much last year, or any year. In 2001 David Sloan started 14-games and last year Boo only started 3 games.

Year Team G GS No Yards Avg Lg TD 20+ 40+ FD
2001 New Orleans Saints 11 4 20 202 10.1 26 3 2 0 12
2002 New Orleans Saints 16 3 13 143 11.0 32 2 2 0 9
2003 New Orleans Saints 14 4 33 348 10.5 31 4 4 0 19

Now, how much playing time Boo has had the past couple of years I don\'t know. And, as far as being inconsitant, I don\'t know. To be honest, I wasn\'t paying a lot of attention, as I was watching our playoff hopes go down the toliet...

Hahahahahaha, yeah, I think that\'s what makes me a good Saints fan. I don\'t expect to make the playoffs every year, and towards the end of the season, I derive the most joy from evaluating players instead of the actual score of the game.

Wasn\'t Cam Cleeland still with the Saints in 2001? Correct me if I\'m wrong, but I thought Sloan didn\'t sign until before the 2002 season.

You are correct.

2001 Detroit Lions 15 15 37 409 11.1 27 7 8 0 24
2002 New Orleans Saints 16 14 12 127 10.6 29 0 2 0 6
2003 New Orleans Saints 2 0 0 0 --- 0 0 0 0 0

I\'ll say just this: if Boo can continue to play next season like he has the last few games for us, he\'ll be one of the biggest surprises of 2004, and he may even make the Pro Bowl, Conwell or no Conwell. Of course, as we all know with Saints players, that is one GIANT if.
