What is Heath Evans So Upset About?

Roughly his salaries since he joined the NFL:

Seattle:

2001: 209,000 + 452,000 signing bonus
2002: 300,000
2003: 389,000
2004: 628,000

Miami:

2005: 325,000

New England:

2006: 585,000 + 25,000 signing bonus
2007: 595,000 + 250,000 signing bonus
2008: 730,000

New Orleans:

2008: 730,000 + 600,000 signing bonus
2009: 745,000
2010: 755,000

(1 million was guaranteeed. Not sure if he made the incentives to make an extra 500,000)

Total:

5,991,000 + 1,327,000

7,318,000

He's no superstar like Brees. He is an excellent player to be sure, but he's no superstar. 7.3 million, in salary, which doesn't include the other perks I am certain NFL players receive.

I like you Mr Evans. I really do. But I think you should STFU sir.

C'mon Man...

Of course he's not specific -- none of the players have been specific, and I want to know why. Well, I think I know why...because if there were to be specific about what they don't like we will view them for they are being right now...whiney little ****suckers...

I had enough of him and now I hope we resign him so we can cut him. I hate when these players say that they have the fans behind them.

I do think he was over verbal about what happened, but how else to you get football starve - crazed fans who don't even give a **** what this is all about not to attack the players about getting back on the field after they have heard that the deal is done. The deal was never done the owners made a tactical move that the players just weren't ready for they waited until the very last hour, and all signed there agreement to ratify the proposal, NOT TO RATIFY THE DEAL. Then they celebrated it with the media, then 4 hours later the NFLPA was given a 500 page document to look over and given an altimatum for a date in which to reform the union.

If you have ever been in a labor dispute you would know how disrespectful that is. Heath, Takeo Spikes, and other player reps do have a lot at stake not so much for themselves, but for the players they represent as well as former and future players. It's like buying a used car in NEW ORLEANS with no car fax history report!!!!!!! LOL

Sounds like he is trying to act like he is somebody... but he is a no body who is going to be swept into obscurity when the season finally starts. He's done.

I know what the owners did. Good for them. As you said, it was a tactical move. I applaud it. Heath has indicated the owners tried to pull a fast one. How so? By playing the 'game' by the same rules the other side is playing? There have been any number of tactical moves made by the players too, to include decertification and lawsuits all with the aim of getting the upper hand.

At the very least his statements are hypocritical, no?

But at any rate, all I'm really trying to say to Heath is that, you know, hey, you've made a TON of money off the NFL - the owners AND the fans, so your wife and 7 year old can shop at Macys and Nordstroms. You've averaged over SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR for the last decade. You work for somebody. You don't OWN a damn thing, and you're still not happy?

Don't feed me this "real fans need to know bs". I am a 'real' fan. I know. I know I can hardly afford to take my family to a game. He feels real bad about losing the Hall of Fame game. No, he doesn't. Not a single player does. They want MORE for less output, period.

At some point enough is enough.

I don't understand the feelings toward Heath Evans that I'm reading here. He isn't fighting for more money for him. He is fighting for a better life for not just him but for all the players including the ones that make the league minimum. I'm not upset in the least. The owners are business men who are used to dirty or underhanded business dealings. They tried to pull a fast one but thanks to people like Heath it ain't happening.
We'll have football and I want him back in the black and gold.

I'm with you Rugby, it's a business plan and simple. I really didn't hear anything wrong on what he was saying, other than that crap that came out of his mouth at the end "war eagle"
