The Saints just cut who?

The Saints will release some guys to create cap space, and the names might surprise us.

Devery Henderson is a possibility while Randall Gay is almost a certainty. Gay missed almost all of 2010, and because the Saints drafted a corner, his $3.5 million salary seems like a very enticing cap cut. Henderson has been mentioned as a cap casualty, but if Robert Meachem gets injured like he usually does, who fills the deep threat roll if Devery is gone? Devery is always my go-to emergency waiver wire pick up in fantasy football when I need a receiver on Sunday morning 15 minutes before kickoff. Heís like a human scratch-off ticket. You usually win nothing but he might drop 3 catches, 125 yards, and a touchdown right in your lap. Donít you take that from me Mickey Loomis!

Will Smith didnít live up to his big contract in 2010 and faces a four game suspension, but if the Saints cut Smith their pass rush goes from bad to having opposing quarterbacks call home during passing plays because theyíll have so much time to throw.

This is also an interesting tidbit in the article...

The disaster in Seattle does seem like five years ago doesnít it? Harper isnít elite but Gregg Williams likes him and I donít think heíll get a huge offer from another team. I saw some advanced statistic that said only Asante Samuel and Malcolm Jenkins allowed a lower yards-per-pass attempt. Heís not elite but better than most Saints fans realize. If you could only forget his performance in Seattle I know youíd believe me.

Now I'd like to see the link to those numbers... but I just wanted to throw that out there.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

He's been great in coverage all season. His past seasons (with Bullocks)combined with the Seattle disaster have misguided a few folks.

I don't doubt that stat at all. He also plays closer to the line than most SS's so that helps that stat.

Saints to play first preseason game in 17 days?

Is this even a good idea? They haven't even had a full practice as a team yet. Their are usually OTA's and so on and so forth beofre the first preseason game. I just see this as trouble for alot of players because theyarent used to the physical side of football yet. Hopefully our starters don't get too much playing time in preseason, if they do it could spell disaster. Its a good thing Drew is such a good leader. If he hadn't organized player drills a few months ago the team might be alot worse. I can't wait to see if the player organized off season work outs pays off. Who Dat!!! Baby!!
