LB Will Herring agrees to a three-year deal with the #Saints, according to his agent George Mavrikes. He can play both SLB and WLB.

Herring, last played for the Seahawks.

Furious now! @miketripletttp: First new #Saints signing: added former Seahawks LB Will Herring to a 3-year deal:

Saints agreed to terms with OLB Will Herring on a three-year contract.

Herring has made just seven starts in his first four NFL seasons, operating mostly as Seattle's fourth linebacker. He should enter a competition with Jonathan Casillas, Jo-Lonn Dunbar, and Martez Wilson at each of the outside spots. We'd avoid the Saints' linebackers in IDP leagues aside from MLB Jon Vilma.

I know nothing about this guy; can anyone fill me in?

He played for Auburn... which is why his name kept ringing a bell for me. Other than that, I can't say I know much about him.

. . .

LB Will Herring, Age: 27
The skinny: The Auburn University product was one of the more versatile linebackers for Seattle last season, with the ability to play all three linebacker positions. However, Herring is looking for a starting role, and could be targeted by another team looking for linebacker help like Chicago or St. Louis. Herring played a lot for Seattle in passing situations, finishing with 36 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception. A fifth-round draft choice in 2007 by Seattle, Herring has started seven games over his four-year career with the club, and also has been a stalwart on special teams.
Stay or go? The Seahawks would like to have him back, but he’ll likely get a better offer to start elsewhere.
See ya Scott.

You know... we found Shanle out of nowhere in '06 and he gave us multiple solid years. This could be another low key solid addition to our squad.
