The Stench on the right side of the line

How much longer is his contract? If he is as stinky as he was last year...does Charles Brown step in?(i know brown was drafted as LT)

jcp026 07-28-2011 02:00 PM

Stinchcomb had offseason surgery. I think he was hurt a good part of the year and played through it. If he's healthy, I'd expect him to play much better.

darstep 07-28-2011 02:06 PM

Stinchcomb held his own last year. I hope he's back to 100% and can give some push for the running game. Seems to me that most of Ivory's success came when running off Stinch's butt. If we are successful running the ball, his job gets much easier.

VillainAgain 07-28-2011 08:53 PM

Stinch had 1 year he didnt get abused we gotta Super Bowl that year, the season before that. Abused, the year before that Abused, the one before that abused last season abused. Id rather upgrade

Jack Vegas 07-28-2011 08:59 PM

Stinchcomb is one of the better right tackles in the NFL. this thread is lunacy.

So just because I respond on a thread makes me the thread police? Jesus....

Go around and look at websites, magazines, etc. Stinchcomb is in fact considered one of the NFL's better right tackles. It's not even debatable at this point.

Speedy Ron 07-28-2011 10:09 PM

i personally think he had 1, 2 good seasons tops. i cant respect your judge of talent after your defense of our worst signing of the year and worst defensive player

Jack Vegas 07-28-2011 10:11 PM

Bah, what's the point. Think what you want, not worth my time to argue with mud.

foreverfan 07-28-2011 10:11 PM

Stinch doesn't get help as much help from the TE as does Bushrod.

You people forget that we've had one of the top offenses in the league since 2006 and it couldn't be done unless the OL was playing great. Stinch is more that a servicable player on the line.

It's a good problem to have when we have to nit pick proven players. ;)

are you serious? what makes you say that at all. not only are you pretty notorious for unjustified hate, you have no clue about whats goin on with our linemen. stinch signed a long term deal because he earned it then justified it by making the pro bowl.

ppl think our line regressed because they dont understand football. not running the ball increased drews chances of getting pressured and sacked but it wasnt because our line regressed. its because we passed the ball 600+ times

weve had this argument before. in my eyes he had 2 good seasons and last year he wasnt that great. frankly im too tired to argue it any more. also...i feel i justify all my hatred

Face it... if it wasn't for your avatar, you'd be just know for your hatred. ;)

i should keep out of this lmao. i have been on our tackle situation for years now. Brown to RT please for those that remember.

stench has always been one of my favs. He was one of the best back ups in the NFL in my book. as a starter? hmmmm pro bowl? ok i am scratching my head a bit but i am happy for him.

he is a serviceable as a RT. But teams last year figured out how to beat him. he did adjust a bit. How much more he can adjust is the question. face facts he has limits. age aint helping.

Bushrod? thats another story all together. take away the TE and kicking guards out of the equation and i am really worried for drews health. lets see if year 3 as a starter is his break out year.

Both can be upgraded without a doubt. can we get by with them? we are soon to find out

I gotta say, that I am very surprised, that someone hasn't come in here and "revoked your fan privelages" yet..... lmao.....

Maverick2299 08-01-2011 03:13 PM

Worst case Brown steps up and takes over. Stich is good, but not great.

Lets remember he detached his quad from the bone in week 7. He played the rest of the season with that injury. Now I have never had a detached anything, but when they have to screw it back to the bone.......Ouch. Stinch is tougher than alot give him credit for.

This is from ESPN article Ten Injuries to Watch

New Orleans was one of only two teams in 2010 to start the same five offensive linemen in all 16 games. So why do we have a Saints offensive lineman on our list of injuries to watch? The answer is threefold. First, Stinchcomb may have avoided missing a start, but that seems to have been because of a superhuman pain threshold. It turns out he played more than half the season with a torn right quadriceps that required surgery after New Orleans was eliminated from the playoffs. Second, one of the reasons the Saints were unable to defend their title was an inability to run the ball efficiently, as they fell from first in 2009 to 25th in 2010. A revolving door at running back was a factor in the decline, but so was the fact that Stinchcomb was playing at less than 100 percent: New Orleans' largest directional decline was on runs behind right tackle (fourth to 23rd).

Finally, as late as one month ago, Stinchcomb was still not fully recovered from his injury. In April's draft, the Saints selected the highest-rated running back, so half their problem appears to have been solved. However, they also ignored offensive tackle altogether, which means that the other half of the solution depends primarily on Stinchcomb's surgically repaired knee.

I've been VERY critical of his play; but if his quality of play is due to injury and he still took the field, I for one will have to look into getting a Stinchcomb jersey (even though wearing another man's jersey is a little weird for me)...

Speedy Ron 08-02-2011 09:28 AM

this is the first i hear of this injury

Yeah, same here; that's why I posted...

Of course, it would make sense to not disclose so as not to lose an advantage...

if the injury is true than his stench is justified and i take back my unjustified hate (for CantonLegend)

beau13 08-02-2011 03:58 PM

There was a small mention by one of the media outlets about the injury back in May. The injury is legit. He did it during the 7th week of the season. Got the chance to meet him over the summer at his charity event in Athens and I asked him about the injury. He just shrugged it off and said that everyone is banged up sometime during the season.
