Saints' Tennant preparing to be No. 1 center if Goodwin doesn't sign
METAIRIE, La. ― Matt Tennant isn’t in the soothsaying business these days.
That means he’s not going to predict what’s going to happen with veteran center Jonathan Goodwin, who sits and waits to see whether the Saints will make a move.
Until that happens, and it’s possible to say at this point if that happens, Tennant remains the No. 1 center for New Orleans in his second-year in the NFL.
And that’s how he’s going to continue approaching this first week of training camp when veteran free agents aren’t allowed to practice because the new league season has yet to officially start.
“I’m just preparing like I would any week at this point,” said Tennant, a 6-foot-4, 300-pounder who can also play guard. “I don’t know if Goody is going to be back. He may be. He may not. I just go out there and play my game and prepare like I should be.”
