RockyMountainSaint 08-03-2011 07:42 AM

"Sean, are you talking about Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?"

jnormand 08-03-2011 08:06 AM

I've never seen a coach have so many former and current coaches come visit camps and practices as Coach Payton. I wonder if this is the secret to his success. Picking everyone's brain like a zombie.

Crusader 08-03-2011 08:21 AM

I would guess that has a big thing do do with it. If you are willing to learn from others chances are good that you will succeed.

WhoDat!656 08-03-2011 08:32 AM

Is Mora wearing a Dolphins shirt?

poydras 08-03-2011 08:45 AM

What can we possibly learn from Jim Mora? We had that losing thing prefected already.

Fleured 08-03-2011 08:53 AM

Look, he's holding his ring finger. He just dropped by to ask Sean what it feels like to have a ring on there.http://209.85.12.234/7361/20/emo/spitua3.gif

I think SP needs better interview skills....

SaintPauly 08-03-2011 08:54 AM

Mora took this franchise somewhere it had never been before. To winning records, the play offs, and the dome patrol was his doing as well. I for one am not ashamed to look back on those years now, and smile. Thanks Mora! Just wish he would have had an offense to go with that earth shattering defense....

Maverick2299 08-03-2011 09:01 AM

Maybe share his tips on that Dome Patrol of his.

poydras 08-03-2011 09:01 AM

All Mora did was disprove that idiotic cliche that "defense wins championships". We had the best defense in the NFL for two years running and didn't even make the playoffs.

While the Saints didnt have an offense anywhere near as potent as the 2011 version, it could have been used better and was certainly capable of getting the Saints to a Super Bowl and winning it!

With idiot Carl Smith as OC, the Saints were doomed.

Maverick2299 08-03-2011 09:06 AM

Defense wins super bowls....but he Offense gets you to playoffs.

SaintPauly 08-03-2011 09:07 AM

We made the play offs 4 times with Mora as head coach, and won the NFCW for the first time ever. Now, we didn't WIN any of those play off games, but we never had a losing season, when the Dome Patrol was playing together.

Maverick2299 08-03-2011 09:10 AM

Part of that is Mora to as a coach. He is the best at taking a team from nothing and turning it into a playoff team. But he just could not win playoff games. 0-6 in playoffs, 4 with the saints and 2 with the colts.

SaintPauly 08-03-2011 09:13 AM

Strat, you are having 3-4 dreams at night huh? :)

All I can say is WhoDat to dat!

Choupique 08-03-2011 11:27 AM

Playoffs!?

skymike 08-03-2011 05:44 PM

Can we sign Mora up in some sort of defensive capacity?

I like him.
Wouldnt mind him hanging out on our sideline.

Mora reminds me of David Simms (Don Johnson) in Tin Cup ...

Played the percentages; but didn't trust anybody, including players, to gamble and win...

alexonfyre 08-04-2011 09:21 AM

Jim Mora was our best coach ever before SP showed up, if he had more support from the FO when he was here he would have gotten over that playoff hump and might have even won a super bowl. But I won't talk about "woulda, coulda, shoulda," I'm happy to see Sean Payton reaching out to him.

poydras 08-04-2011 10:22 AM

I'll always be mad at him for not firing Carl Smith and then when he went to the Colts, not taking Smith with him. Had we had any offense at all back when we had those great defenses, I think we could have been to a Super Bowl or two.

Rugby Saint II 08-04-2011 10:33 AM

Yeah, Payton brings in other coaches for some additional info. But Jim Mora???????????

darstep 08-04-2011 11:00 AM

I liked Mora...Payton's polar opposite..and still do. Took conservativism to the nth degree. About as predictable as sunrise. Sent Morten Anderson straight to the Hall of Fame...3 pts. at a time. Only the current era is better than Mora's Saints legacy. Glad to see him hanging around, and in my mind, he is ALWAYS welcomed. He has a wealth of information from his experiences that he can contribute to help us stay successful.

the only reason we could'nt go further in the playoffs was CARL SMITH. but thanks to both coachs anyway for getting us there.
