If I were a Bucs fan, I would be pissed. nearly 30 million to spend, the most talented FA pool in years, and they came with nada.

As a Saints fan I feel great, have fun fighting for Not-Last-Place with Carolina, you pansies.

If I were a Raiders fan; I'd seriously be pissed! 15 million over the cap and still can't make the play-offs

And they lost their two best players... They seriously need to fire everyone, sell the team and start over from scratch.

Hmmm ... I wonder who the Raiders will have to cut to shed 15 million?

Also now isn't there now a cap floor like 90% so that teams like the Bucs are required to spend at least 90% of their cap? Is this not in effect for this year?

RaginCajun83 08-04-2011 04:04 PM

From what I heard today, the cap floor doesn't come into play till next season

I really hope that the cap floor won't be implemented in the same manner as for example in the NHL. Whereas the rich teams from the big market areas have no problems reaching the cap limit, but small market areas have to do anything and everything they can to reach the required cap floor - including way overpaying players (which screws up the whole FA market), and trading for useless big contract players to be buried in the minors just to reach the cap floor. And what makes it even worse is that the cap goes up at least 5% annually to accommodate for the inflation and making it even harder for the small market area teams to survive.

While NO, as a small market area, isn't likely to face problems of this sort - there's always a limit to what a certain market area can sustain and most of the time the first thing to reflect rising cap floors are the ticket prices, which in turn hurts the fans.

Sorry, didn't mean to go off on a rant like that...

7 Million sounds like enough to work with! Sign Kreutz for 1 year @ 4 mill. so Tennant has one more year to develop at center, and then save the rest in case we have an injury that requires us to go out and get another big name. Get on it Mick!

2 years I think. Tight ass teams like the Browns are still keeping putting money in their pockets instead of putting a better product on the field.

Is there any site where you can see what each player counts against the cap?
