Reliant Stadium Tailgate -- Saints/Texans - Hou Dats & All WhoDats WELCOME!

Ok here it is. The Houston Saints Fans thread gets so long, I'd better
make a separate TAILGATE thread. Besides, we want to meet up with
our NOLA and Louisiana brethren and everywhere else (like Austin) brethren.

I'll gather in the Hou-Dats via email this evening.

1st Item: WHERE:

John, you got a green pass.
do they allow tailgating there?

Ed's got a blue pass, but I dont know if he's doing the whole pregame thing--- I'll get him in here and we'll chat...

I dont have a pass yet, but I'm looking to possibly buy one and side up next to whomever is going to be our home base-- give us more room.

We'll talk equipment soon.
And FOOD! ideas?

This year, Im even going to wash my truck!
Yall realize, last time we did this --- we ended up in the Super Bowl!

AlaskaSaints 08-04-2011 06:52 PM

I wanna tailgate!!! WAAAAA! :crying:

Doubt it. Not even Texans fans are Texans fans. The only true sports fans in Houston are Who Dats.

lynwood 08-04-2011 07:13 PM

I'll bring an Ice chest with some Abita Beer and Water. Maybe some snacks of some sort too. Probably too hot for hot meals so maybe finger sammiches?

Budsdrinker 08-04-2011 07:47 PM

Hard to go wrong with Popeyes

lynwood 08-04-2011 07:56 PM

Man! You read my mind. I'm about to fry some chicken right now.
I live near a LSU/Saint eatery called Zachary's. Pretty good. I could check on prices, they sell tubs of Gumbo and jambalaya. I'm also willing to cook and contribute if someone has a strike yo momma recipe.

SmashMouth 08-04-2011 07:58 PM

I'll bring abita beer... Are you ready for some football?

skymike 08-05-2011 06:21 AM

POPEYES! You people are freakin geniuses. Forgetabout cooking.

Do that, we could get a big pot and ACT like we're cooking.

No one is from Houston. Everyone in Houston comes from a)Mexico b)some other city. No one is from Houston.

Welcome alexonfyre. True. The Texans dont have fans-- they have "clients" Everyone in Texans gear is only there because some vendor left tickets at the office.

Budsdrinker 08-05-2011 07:53 AM

If it was cooler, say like 70* I wouldn't have a problem bringing my burner and pot and cooking gumbo or jambalaya or pastalaya but 100* is just a tad bit warm to cook in. We can all just pitch in and bring something.

strato 08-05-2011 08:00 AM

Somebody stop in Scott and get the Boudin...cant tailgate without it..and grab some cracklins to...

Are you in Kingwood? If that's the Zachary's you're talking about, it is pretty good! But we should probably stick to Popeye's, much easier.

Strato, you prefer Best Stop or Don's? I'm partial to Best Stop myself. I'm not planning on making a trip to Scott, but if someone's driving here for the game, that's a great idea!

AlaskaSaints 08-05-2011 02:32 PM

We've got a Popeye's here in Anchorage. I may go by and get me some spicy chicken just to pretend I'm there with you guys. No Abita here, though...

Have fun, fellas.

Idea: a BlackandGold.com banner for those looking for you guys, as well as bringing a little promo to the site.

Hey Joanie! Glad to see you on the site.

I think we'll know a little more on what we need in the coming week.... shouldnt be anything crazy... but its looking more and more like a popeyeskind of party-- hahaha.... Be sure and check here all next week.

1. Guys, John's got one tent; I think we can use two. Does anyone else have one of those fold-out tents? I can probably get one from
my radio station, but I'd rather have a Saints one.

2. Who's got a box fan?

3. -- Im seriously thinking about bringing a kiddie pool, and filling it with ice.

4. -- KAJUN KOOKIN--- HI Connie & Rob! Welcome to B&G. Jump in and say "hi."

5. Im trying to get an additional parking pass. All thats available to me is Blue Lot and Maroon. I dont want Maroon. I put in a bid for Blue. wouldnt it be cool, if we had like 4 spaces together?

HouYat 08-05-2011 09:05 PM

I now have a pass for the Blue parking lot!

QBREES9 08-05-2011 11:25 PM

They Cut Dan Orlovsky. I guess i have to go to the Colts game or the Panthers game.

I have a Blue Pass too! Ok, I think that seals it.

How bout you, me, and Ed parking side by side?

Now we got some space.

any discussion, guys?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Do we have a generator? Maybe we need 2?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. I'm a disgrace to my race, but I dont have any decent coolers. Who can bring coolers?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. I do have 4 good fold out chairs. anybody else?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
5. I have a plan for cooling, but we still could use a couple box fans.
Anybody got these?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Who's got a Giant flag? Anybody got a pole?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
7. How bout a jazz band?

1) We can all park together if we can meet somewhere close to the stadium and drive in together. Shouldn't be too difficult.
2) Can't help you there...no generator.
3) I can bring a cooler or 2.
4) I have a couple of chairs I can bring, but the last tailgate I went to, nobody was sitting down at all.
5) I don't have any box fans.
6) I think Budsdrinker said he had a Saint's flag. Don't know about a poll.
7) Don't know how we can arrange that, but if you bring your sound system, I'll bring my Saints cd that we played at Mudbugs II.

You will need to make sure that everything can be put away and locked up before going to the game. You don't want anything to walk away while everyone's at the game.

DoctorWhoDat 08-07-2011 05:55 PM

Near Kirby on SW side? How close to the stadium? We might be taking the rail in, so too far on the other side towards Kirby might be a bit much with it being 110 outside. Crikey. WInter couldn't come soon enough. Email me with your section - if we can't make the tailgate we'll come find you inside - I want you to meet my friends and native Who Dats Jamie and Gail.

DoctorWhoDat 08-07-2011 05:58 PM

@SkyMike - sorry. I'm the blogger formerly known as (and will still answer to after a few beers) Cat5 :-D

Budsdrinker 08-07-2011 08:29 PM

I have 5 chairs to go with the tent. Flags and poles even Saints blowup football player. I'll work on a blue pass this week to give us more room. All we have to do is find a central location to meet and arrive together. Anyone going to NOLA this week for Friday's game? I'm heading that way Friday morning and will be at the game and hitting the quarter afterward if anyone wants to meet up and have a beer or 3.

AlaskaSaints 08-08-2011 04:33 AM

Of no consequence; I bought my tickets for Tennessee today. $300 each. 4th row, 50, Saints side. I can't wait for the Tennessee Tailgate Thread!!!

Hate you guys. I'll be bowhunting sheep in the Brooks Range of Alaska for this game... Anyone want to trade tickets?

Alaska

skymike 08-08-2011 06:33 AM

Hou Dats! I just got a message from Joanie. She has a Blue Lot pass. We now have 4, FOUR spaces!!!! (laugh like The Count) ah ah ah ah....

Cat5, I knew exactly who you were, (Bette Davis has YOU eyes.) and I'm thrilled to have you on my Saints board. I think I talk to Jamie & Gail on FB, and look forward to meeting in person. We're in the BLUE LOT, and wont be far from the Rail, & I would be most disappointed to not see you there. Check back on this board, would you? I'll have details.

You do NOT have a Blowup Saint. Wow! We're going to own the Reliant Parking Lot. Meetup will be a snap. We'll meet in one spot, go in together, and claim our spot & begin our operation.

I need someone to have an SUV.

-- All we need is a Jazz band. I'll make some calls.

It's not any of my business, but I can't understand why you would want to have a "Giant" flag. Why not a Saints' flag?

I just wonder what will happen to all of our "Hou-Dats" if the Texans ever become a playoff caliber team.

I was also wondering how many Lou-Hous are out there? You know...people from NO and Louisiana that go to Houston to watch the Texans and tailgate there

Again, I wore Saints gear when the Cowboys won the Super Bowl and the Saints sucked. I wore Saints gear in Shreveport, ok? All of the Hou-Dats, except me, are FROM NOLA, LA, or MS. They also wore Saints gear when the Saints sucked. Its in their blood and they're not changing. Would you like to contribute something positive? If no, then get off my Tailgate thread.

Back to business: (see my above post) JOANIE has a Blue Pass--- this makes FOUR.

Im not sure SLB..you think they can cover this with Toro?

skymike 08-08-2011 07:56 AM

This concludes the dumb comments portion of our programming today.

Did I mention Joanie has a Blue Lot pass?

Can anyone tell me how many spaces we have now?

bonus points: can you identify "The Larch?" (dont worry, that doesnt make sense to most people.)
