Marques Colston knees
 

I love this guy he's very underrated and don't get the credit he deserve in this league. I want to know from the B&G nation he's had 3 surgeys on his knees if he doesn't product this year because on the swelling and the soreness of his knees do we try to get a big name WR next year in the draft or free agents.

I am worried anout Colston too - BUT any WR we find who can run routes & hold onto theball will dow ell in SPs offense with Brees throwing to them. Bres makes ordinary WRs look GOOD

I want to see Colston do well. But honestly I don't see Payton as the type of coach to go out and spend big money for a "big name" WR. He's just had too much tremendous success with "nobodies" and unknowns to do anything different. That's part of why I love the Saints so much, under Drew and Payton and Loomis -- it's so much fun to beat other teams, and then their dazed fans are like, "I never heard of them, who are all these guys? How can they be so good?" and meanwhile the other team's "big names" are being scorched and torched by our undrafted or low-round guys from Hofstra, Tiffin, and schools nobody ever pays attention to, and a quarterback who everybody said was too small. I think Payton likes to look for for guys that got overlooked and have a chip on their shoulder.

We all love Lance but I can't see him being the main guy long term. I know he was the first option when Colston was hurt before but with Bush gone and the only main guy to worry about is Lance I just don't know.

The injuries are something to be concerned about, but him being only 28, I believe he can still turn it around. He also has the right mindset

and natural calmness about him, which I personally value a lot. Another thing I like is that he is constantly under the radar when it comes to

national media. I mean the guy has had 4 over 1,000 yards receiving seasons during the 5 years he has played in the NFL. If he was playing

somewhere else where there was more emphasis on top receivers he would probably be an absolute superstar and a household name.


With the history of this regime finding great receiver talent at late picks and from the UDFAs, I would rather have the Saints spend high draft

picks on some other positions like OLBs and Ts. But I think Colston will be alright and when all is said and done... he'll have all the important

receiving records in Saints franchise history to his name.

We don't have the offense suitable for a "big name" receiver. We spread the ball around too much to keep any "big name" receivers happy...

I am worried about Colston's knee, I know that much. They are being really hush-hush about it, but he hasn't practiced in a while, and it's the same knee that just underwent surgery.

I agree that they key to the passing offense is the ability to spread the ball around to multiple receivers. However, just like Ingram brings the excitement to the running back by committee group and Graham brings it to the stable, deep TE group the team has had, a WR with the physical tools and instincts to stand out among the group they have can only help the team. I'm not knocking Moore or anyone else on the team. But I think they all would agree having a Larry Fitzgerald type on the field would help everyone.

Of course, that being said, I would NOT have traded 5 + picks/players to get Julio Jones. ;)
