Status reports on big-name rookies(Predict Ingram's numbers)

Mark Ingram, running back, Saints. He’s gotten off to a very good start in camp and he’s really the only New Orleans rookie who is not being brought along slowly. You can take that as a sign that Ingram’s going to play a lot as a rookie. He’s been getting lots of first-team work in camp. He’s going to split snaps with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles. But running back usually is an easy position for rookies to pick up. If Ingram can show he’s got the playbook down and can protect Drew Brees from blitzes, he’s going to get a lot of playing time from the start.

Ingram predictions... what you got?

800 yards rushing 6-8 touchdowns 200 yards receiving

alexonfyre 08-11-2011 02:24 PM

I agree with 1000 all-purpose yards, but I think he will get the majority of the goalline touches by the end of the season, so probably 10-12 TDs

Maverick2299 08-11-2011 02:29 PM

1011 rushing yards, 150 receiving yards, 9 Touchdowns.

I agree 800 yards rushing with about 8 TD's, but I'd up that receiving figure to about 400 yards receiving and 4 more TD's.

1,341+1 yards rushing rushing, 268+1 yards receiving, and 13+1 TDs. So he can 1/up AP across the board - except for attempts, receptions and fumbles.

Dudes - what about PT & Sproles??

500 yrds rushing
200 yrds rec

5 tds

papz 08-11-2011 07:39 PM

I'd put PT around 600 and Sproles around 300.

saintsfan1976 08-11-2011 07:42 PM

We have three different types of effective RB's.

How about 1,000 all purpose yards for each back?

papz 08-11-2011 07:46 PM

That's pretty realistic. Sproles is a lock with the return yardage. Ingram with 8/2, PT 6/4+, Sproles 3/3.

I can't seem to get a read on what we're going to do with Ivory. I don't see how he fits into the picture anymore.

Well he won't be back right away, so they'll be able to see how the running game gets going in the initial weeks of regular
season. Whatever the role, SP will probably want to go easier on Ivory 'cos he has had 2 different surgeries since last he
played - and I think I remember reading about him saying something along those lines, but can't remember where.

The most obvious role for him is to pick up the slack if someone gets hurt, but if all 3 others remain healthy it'll probably be too
crowded for Ivory. His skill-set probably best substitutes that of Ingram's minus the receiving game. Don't know about Bell's
skill-set and whether he would work as a cover for either PT or Sproles?

saintsfan1976 08-11-2011 09:20 PM

Ivory is a backup. Always has been...

Alright Papz, here's my take on our RB's:

Sproles - most receptions
PT - most yards
Ingram - most TD's

Maverick2299 08-11-2011 09:58 PM

Even with me saying Ingrim will hit 1000 yards, Thomas will get around 600 or 700.

During the super bowl year, Bell had 654 and Thomas had 793.

I expect our running game to be better this year and IF Ingrim comes out of the gate as good as he is projected, our run game will be wicked.
