Marvin Mitchell Profile

The Miami Dolphins have signed former New Orleans Saints inside linebacker Marvin Mitchell, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Mitchell is a former Saints seventh-round draft pick who played collegiately at Tennessee.

Mitchell, 26, signed a three-year contract in 2007 and was assigned to the practice squad.

He was promoted as a rookie when Scott Fujita got hurt.

The 6-foot-3, 249-pounder recorded 46 tackles, two forced fumbles and one sack last season in 16 games for New Orleans.

Mitchell has 89 tackles in four NFL seasons.

I think he may fit in quite well there. Don't they run a 3-4 now (I can't remember)? He'd probably make a good 3-4 ILB.

Yep. Their starting D line-up against the Falcons was as follows:

LE Kendall Langford - NT Paul Soliai - RE Randy Starks
SLB Koa Misi - ILB Karlos Dansby - ILB Kevin Burnett - WLB Cameron Wake
CB Sean Smith - FS Chris Clemons - SS Yeremiah Bell - CB Vontae Davis

But I think they went into some 4-3 packages as well, still mainly 3-4. Dansby is set as a starting ILB... don't know if Mitchell can challenge Burnett for tthe other starting spot..?
