QBREES9 08-19-2011 11:56 PM

Hulka you ready for tomorrow nights game. I wonder how long they'll let Drew play. i didn't get to see to much of last weeks game.

homerj07 08-20-2011 07:50 PM

11-5

Marlboro Man 08-20-2011 08:52 PM

I started off saying 12-4, but after watching 1 1/2 games so far, we might be lucky to win 6 games this year. We look terrible plain and simple.

Maverick2299 08-20-2011 08:53 PM

I think we are going to win...alot

Maverick2299 08-20-2011 08:58 PM

The Texans do have a really good Offensive. 4-12 is a little harsh.

Maverick2299 08-20-2011 09:03 PM

They were 3rd in total O, 4th in passing, 7th in rushing in 2010 Thats pretty good

3rd total O, 1st in passing, 30 in rushing in 2009.

BlueDevil1978 08-20-2011 09:05 PM

Not to worry too much. I'm thinking that the stinkage of this game can be attributed to:
1.) Payton's stubborness to prove that someone besides Pierre can successfully run a screen pass
2.) Payton is trying things he normally wouldn't in a typical game plan, just to check some things out (i.e.; bad screens)
3.) Payton is not tipping his hand - offensively or defensively - to this very good Texan team, mainly because we have to play them for real later on

I'm thinking that Payton, Brees, Vilma, and Jenkins will have this team ready to go come Lambeau time.

12-4
NFC Championship returns to the Superdome in January

Yep, it's called pre-season. Happens every year...:bng:

gandhi1007 08-20-2011 09:17 PM

I said 12-4 at the beginning of the year, but after watching our D get shred by both Texas RB's & Jabari Greer get torched on just about every passing play.........I'm beginning to wonder. It really made me think of Fred Thomas & Jason David. Ughhh!!!!!! We need Porter back & Robinson making a push to start opposite of him at CB.

Maverick2299 08-20-2011 09:19 PM

I am going to give Greer a wee bit of a pass..... he is covering Andre Johnson....a top 3 WR. But he can get better.

He is also leading the team in tackles with 6

gandhi1007 08-20-2011 09:38 PM

He's also leading the team in missed tackles with about 12.

Maverick2299 08-20-2011 09:48 PM

what does that say about the rest of the team, if he is having to make all the tackles, (12 misses? maybe), 6 hits (total 18) With only 31 plays 1st team D.
The other first starter D's racked up a total of 18 tackles. Total with Greer (24)

I would argue Oliver got beat more, he blew the coverage on the deep pass to Andre, he missed the open field tackle on the RB who scored a TD early on.

Greer did blow a tackle on the goal line...I will give you that.

But the entire team missed tackles.

SapperSaint 08-20-2011 09:51 PM

13-2

we go back to the Super Bowl

HAIL MING!

strato 08-20-2011 11:23 PM

I will wait till after the preseason...not sure what to make of this team yet...i know we miss Shockey already...

Shock could catch and could block. Jimmy seems to be more of a downfield threat. Plus the Shockey was just tough.

B_Dub_Saint 08-21-2011 11:28 PM

Im sticking with 12-4. I think it will be Saints and Green Bay in the NFC Championship game with home field at the Dome. If we do have home field its over for any team that steps in!

xan 08-22-2011 12:53 AM

9-7

Too many turnovers, too many whiffed tackles, too many quality opponents.

2x Panthers
Lions
Vikes
Titans
TB away
Jags
Manning double

No playoffs. But I'm willing to negotiate.

Crusader 08-22-2011 02:32 AM

The Lions won 4 games in the preseason and then went 0-16. I don't care about any results right now. I think we win atleast 11 games in the regular season, might be more Bucs and falcons are key-matchups.

TheOak 08-22-2011 07:01 AM

stink? I wish we stunk! At least that would mean we have a smell.

I saw nothing.

Maverick2299 08-22-2011 08:26 AM

I hate playing bad, but the saints playing bad is still better then most teams.

Saints did play very poorly, but its not like the Texans suck. They are going to win 10+ games this year. But even then, until I see how we play in the Green Bay game is when I will get excited or worried.

I can understand jumping to o, we are going to have a low record this year, if we lost this way to the panthers are some below average team.

WhoDat!656 08-22-2011 09:18 AM

Barring injuries, 12-4 is certainly an achievable record

Danno 08-22-2011 09:48 AM

Our shedule is much tougher than last year (on paper).

I'm gonna go with 11-5, NFC South champs and #2 seed in the NFC, barring key or excessive injuries of course.

FireVenturi 08-22-2011 11:06 AM

Anyone saying 4-7 wins, I have to question their football knowledge. We have upgraded on paper, we were 11-5 last year with substantial injuries, and most of our tough games are at home. Silly to be putting this much stock into a preseason game. I careless what our preseason record is. As long as we are healthy on Sept 8th.

Nemesis 08-22-2011 11:45 AM

10-6

xan 08-22-2011 12:03 PM

Whew. My 9 wins is above the "justification cut."

O-Line issues
DB health issues
LB quality issues
WR drops issues

Ok, there. I justified. We play very clever teams this year. My bet is they exploit those weaknesses.

ALLSAINTS66 08-22-2011 12:10 PM

Sloppy Colts lose 8th straight preseason game | Vigilant Sports

Does anyone doubt the Colts won't be fierce contenders?
Y'alluh bein' awful rough on our boys. We ain't gonna know
JACK about how they can REALLY play when the fire is
underneath 'em, and that happens when the REAL season starts.

Maverick2299 08-22-2011 12:59 PM

Well we went 11- 5 last year with.
O-line issues (stays the same, maybe a slight drop, but there are two new starters)
DB Health issues (continues)
LB Quality issues (the lb have gotten a little better, not much)
HB Health issues (so far there healthy, not only that they look better)
DL Issues (there is still alot of work, but they got better)

Vick had 3 picks and the eagles got owned in there second pre-season game. I can bet you they will win over 10 games this year.

I can see us winning 12-14 games this year, but you are right if they play like they did the other day they will win 4. BUT we are not the saints of old...we dont have dumb headed coaches/players. On top of that there is a roster loaded with talent. There not going to go sit in a chair, there going to work there butts off.

I haven't seen anything that would make me think 4 wins or 14 wins. I don't use preseason to judge team performance. It's even hard to judge individual performance with game plans we will never use in the regular season. We played soft Cover 2 or Cover 3 the whole game against the Texans, which I seen GW use less than 5 percent of the plays in the regular season. Like I said, if it happens against the Packers like it did Sat night against the Texans, then I will start to worry. Colts have won like 4 preseason games in like the last ten years and they have been a pretty consistent team during that time.

winmill1 08-22-2011 01:44 PM

I will be able to tell you on SEP. 8 AT 10:00 PM.

saintfan 08-22-2011 03:06 PM

I expect (fully) 10 wins.
