Per Bobby on WWL. This is just great. Our Oline is already thin enough and not doing its job. Brees is going to be running for his life this year.

I don't know what to say...

Until I see what the details of the injury are, I'll hope for best...

EDIT: Mike Triplett tweeted that he walked off the field under his own power, injury unknown

Danno 08-22-2011 08:05 PM

Our team is made of glass.

If you think its just coincidence or bad luck after 3 or 4 years of this happening you're smoking some really bad crap.

aquaboogie 08-22-2011 08:05 PM

DBs in 2009, RBs in 2010, OL in 2011? Oh $h!t

Something needs to be done with our strength and conditioning department. This has been a trend since day 1 of the Payton era and has to my knowledge never been looked into. These sports hernias for one thing are rediculous, and key players going down in practices are commonplace. I don't get it.

O lineman get hurt every preseason, every season and every post season.

# Leonard Davis, G, Cowboys. Age: 32.
Leonard Davis played well last year, but he was due $6 million and thus became a fiscal casualty for the cap-strapped Cowboys. He turns 33 in early September, but could be a solid starter for a couple more seasons.

He is still unsigned and knows Payton..i dunno

QBREES9 08-22-2011 11:26 PM

Man, what else can happen.

woody 08-23-2011 12:04 AM

Didn't Shockey have a problem with the team docs? I keep thinking there was something like that. Not that docs can prevent certain injuries.

Pass on him. He has gotten old quick and can hardly move on the field anymore. A liability both in passpro and the run game.

strato 08-23-2011 12:35 AM

depth?

Crusader 08-23-2011 12:44 AM

If it would have been anybody else I might have agreed with you but not this guy.

Put the cowgirl hate aside....he is friends with Sean...that has to count for something...

FinSaint 08-23-2011 05:13 AM

This is just great... another one bites the dust. :-(

foreverfan 08-23-2011 05:23 AM

Walked off on own power with no assistance according to WWL. Probably just tweaked it. Still, you can tear an ACL and walk off the field. Payton didn't mention it after practice.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Ashley 08-23-2011 07:10 AM

My God what is going on the the strength and conditioning coach's. I have to agree this must be looked into.

Cruize 08-23-2011 07:34 AM

It's like the season ended right after the Seahawks game and no one got any rehab or conditioning work during the offseason. Oh wait.............

I really wish the lockout was the reason but I think history tells a different story

True. If this was the only year it happened, then we can blame the lockout.

I think we've finished near the top of the league in players landing on IR, or missing multiple games, for several years now.

Does the league (or some other party) hold statistics on man-hours lost due to injuries?

I know NHL for example does, and if NFL does it would be interesting to see how high the Saints rank in that list in the span of say last 4 years.

Speedy Ron 08-23-2011 08:54 AM

We must have the worst strength and conditioning dept in the league. im so sick of this. everyone is hurt all the time on this team. F!!!!!!!!!!

Maverick2299 08-23-2011 09:00 AM

To be fair, if you look at other teams this year, alot of players are getting hurt.

Already, since the Ivory hernia sx, several reporters have said in their video logs that they may have to ask Coach Payton about the recurrence of certain injuries; one such example is the sports hernia; I believe so far Vilma, Smith, Stinchcomb, Greer, Henderson, Ivory; as well as former players Shockey, Young and Brown...

That's what I said - booty traps...

Ladies and Gentlemen, your New Orleans Saints Conditioning Coach

TheDeuce 08-23-2011 10:55 AM

I never really understood why people blame strength and conditioning coaches or trainers for injuries. People get hurt, it's a tough game. Just because we have injuries doesn't mean it's anybody's fault.

RaginCajun83 08-23-2011 11:32 AM

The fact that this is little info is starting to worry me some, we all saw Deuce walk twice after tearing this acl so let's hope that this isn't serious with Nicks, last thing I want to see is Drew having to run for his life every play

Budsdrinker 08-23-2011 11:32 AM

They do too much stretching and weights if you ask me. Your muscles and ligaments can only be stretch so much and then they are going to give. We've all twisted a straw when we were kids and then just plucked it with our finger and it popped. I'm no doctor but to me they are over doing it. There's no reason when they excercise to have their legs bent behind them, that's not a natural poistion. When players were less sculptured and muscle bound there were fewer injuries or so it seems.

jnormand 08-23-2011 12:32 PM

Nothing was mentioned after practice at all. I'll freak out if Coach P puts him on the injury list or makes an announcement.
