Oliver

Do anyone know why he started the game and did we cut him after the game. Because he didn't impress me at all and after Foster ran the ball up the middle and made that one move I would have cut him.

-Jenkins was hurt.
-Short offseason, new system
-He's expected to be a backup, not a starter
-It's the second game of the preseason.
-The sky is not falling.

where is Darren Sharper

papz 08-23-2011 03:23 PM

FA. It appears all 32 front offices don't feel the need to add him just yet.

Danno 08-23-2011 03:53 PM

It was just 1 game, but it was ugly.

The guy started 1/2 the season for the number 1 defense in the NFL.

It may be he's still adjusting to our system and was out of position.

I think GW will take a longer look at him these next two games. If you don't see him getting a lot of playing time, he's likely already gone.

1 preseason game does not a year ruin

FireVenturi 08-23-2011 08:38 PM

Must be the number he's wearing. It's cursed!!! Lol

FinSaint 08-23-2011 08:39 PM

He supposedly has great versatility... able to play both safety spots and CB as well, but I guess that doesn't matter if you can't perform up to par in any of them... still optimistic about him despite the last game.

Man, don't say that, I mean don't even get something like that started, LOL.

He looked quite raw out there but pretty athletic, I think he could grow into a good backup over time.

pherein 08-24-2011 12:57 AM

I say someone needs to shiv him in the shower :)

crawgator 08-24-2011 01:38 AM

I think it's the number he is wearing.. I think a Voodoo Priestess cursed it.. But seriously it was one game.. Kinda like Roman Harper he has had bad games we still got him... He will adjust..

I thought long and hard about this Oliver guy, because it was such a WTF stinkeroo game for him. And I've said this here before -- after I cooled down somewhat from the Texans loss, I thought about it some more, and I found myself wondering if maybe GW sorta threw the noob guy back there, all by his lonesome, with no help from anybody, to kind of hang him out to dry, on purpose -- to see what he's made of.

So maybe the reasons Oliver in particular looked so glaringly stinkeroo back there was that (a) he's only been with the team for two weeks, and (b) maybe he was kinda being thrown to the wolves out there, on purpose, in a very vanilla scheme. I dunno. He looked TURRIBLE, but the guy's only been here two weeks. I'm thinking he can't really be THAT STINKING BAD, and have played in the league for 4 or 5 years like he has. I think it was just a combination of him being thrown to the wolves that night, and that he got really picked on by the Texans. The 1's for the Texans offense obviously knew to go right AT him.

Check out these vids, guys...just to ease your comcerns a bit.

He looked bad yes...but as stated above there are logical reasons behind it. The guy can play ball, he just needs to catch up in this system and get comfortable with his assignements.

Luda34 08-24-2011 04:35 PM

Well I don't care what he did with other team. He need to step up with this team.

|Mitch| 08-24-2011 04:38 PM

After the last game; everyone on D needs to step it up!

Aceswild 02 08-25-2011 06:18 AM

Do you guys not realize the impact this offseason has had on the players? Everyone is playing catch up getting used to the speed of the game again. By the first game of the regular season everyone should be back on track. Also, its the preseason guys...teams arent out there to show everyone their best, they are getting used to playing in real games. Yall read way too much into this preseason stuff. Just sayin
