Guess who leads the preseason in passing yards?

Our own Chase Daniel....

NFL Stats: Player

:bng:

saintfan 08-30-2011 03:28 PM

Championship!

Crusader 08-30-2011 03:34 PM

That makes me feel good. Chase has looked good so far, he is improving.

Gives new meaning to "Statue of Liberty" play...

He OWNS it.

Alaska

Would imagine that Chase has played a lot more in pre-season. But it feels good to know that if (GOD FORBID) Drew is hurt, we would have someone competent to back him.

Competent being the key word.

Speaking of meaningless preseason stats...

Guess which defense ranks dead last in yards per rush?

Just saying. ;)

Maybe a little, but its not the stats that matter, its how he looked, the decisions he made, the way he led the team. The stats are simply window dressing.

Well, I'll say the first string D hasn't done well....sorry to go off topic.

I agree. Hopefully they get it together before Sep-8.

It's a good thing we have Shanle.

Yep, where would we be without him?

lumm0x 08-30-2011 06:04 PM

Didn't Arrington lead the preseason in receiving last year as well? I agree, it's a back up's time to shine and you like to see it, but it is generally against the second and third teams and doesn't hold much merit. I am always for competent back ups and hope if one needs to play the drop off isn't huge.

homerj07 08-30-2011 08:16 PM

good for him. preseason or not he has shown some talent & the ability to take a hit

strato 08-31-2011 10:37 AM

Nope..not liquor..just like to mess with Danno...as he does me..

what does 12:47 have to do with anything anyway...im a nite owl ...

alexonfyre 08-31-2011 10:38 AM

You put a first string quarterback against 2nd and 3rd string defenses and he is going to lead the league in passing. Fact is, Chase has starter talent, whether or not he would be elite remains to be seen, but if you put him somewhere like San Fran or Tennessee he would be starting next week, guaranteed.

That's when that other strato comes out. It has everything to do with it. I shouldn't have to tell you that was out of line... and it wasn't funny.

What this also says to me is that, even in vanilla mode, and with lesser athletes, our offense is consistently a Top 5 offensive SCHEME. The 2nd string offense with Chase is not completely watered down or vanilla -- truth is, they are running much of the same plays -- you see the same signature screens, the same formations, similar receiver patterns, same progressions, the same deceptions and looks, and Chase is throwing the same deep balls that Drew and the gang typically will run. So, this shows me that Payton's offensive PHILOSOPHY and style is 100% working. To me, that is the merit in that stat - it's not just a reflection on Chase being good (which he is) but that PAYTON and company are good at offense.
