Agreed... We need him ..

xan 09-02-2011 10:57 AM

Not to be a contra, or such, but this guy got a sweet deal, in the middle of his contract, and is petulant about getting his money up-front. I smell something very bad here.

NO.

NFL.com news: Briggs: 'I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore'

Get him Looooomis!

alexonfyre 09-02-2011 11:15 AM

Hmmm...Joique Bell and a 4th rounder?

Budsdrinker 09-02-2011 11:32 AM

I'll pass. He's never satisfied with his money. He started complaining after 2006, was franchised a couple times signed new deal in 2008 for 6 years and now he's unhappy again after 3 years. Could cause too much distraction in the locker room.

Sign him to a 4 year contract with most money coming early in the contract and a reasonable amount of money. If he isn't working out then we cut him or trade him. I believe that Loomis could make a deal everyone would be happy with.
Who knows he may just need a change of scenery.

crawgator 09-02-2011 12:07 PM

He is to dam Greedy, he complains and whine's to much, we don't need that kind of player in our locker room

lynwood 09-02-2011 12:38 PM

I'm not into players always crying about money. Pass

Speedy Ron 09-02-2011 01:09 PM

id be crying too if i was playing for the bears.

foreverfan 09-02-2011 01:33 PM

Are you kidding? After we resign Brees, we we'll have to cut Benson.

maybe Tennessee can sign Briggs with the money they saved from what Johnson actually wanted. Then he can tweet his peeps for praying for his lucrative payoff.

Bears' Briggs Requests Trade...To Saints?

per ESPN.com

Chicago Bears' Lance Briggs seeks trade after not getting raise - ESPN Chicago

Think the Saints could use this guy?

jcp026 09-02-2011 04:13 PM

Oh we could use him, but what do we give the Bears and how much does he get in a new contract?

jeanpierre 09-02-2011 04:16 PM

They need wide receivers...

saintfan 09-02-2011 04:17 PM

They can have Arrington.

Speedy Ron 09-02-2011 06:19 PM

Throw and i mean throw Herring in there to...

Danno 09-02-2011 07:48 PM

He'd probably cost us a player like Meachem plus another decent player or mid-round pick.

Euphoria 09-02-2011 08:01 PM

I don't think he is work the head ache in the locker room.

Or the pocket book

SaintPauly 09-02-2011 11:11 PM

Guys, while I don't agree with some of the players WAY of going about it, they want to get paid. If you didn't get paid for doing your job, I'm betting you would be pretty upset about it wouldn't you?

Agreed. Is there a single player on the Saints who left his former team because of money issues? I can't think of one.

Bush?:bng:

Euphoria 09-02-2011 11:44 PM

He got paid...

He signed a 6 year deal and now he doesn't like it. A lot of the money was upfront.

foreverfan 09-03-2011 12:05 AM

We can't pay the man so the point is moot.

SaintPauly 09-03-2011 03:10 AM

He's in the fourth year of a six year deal. This certainly isn't the first time I've seen this scenario before, and I'm sure it won't be the last. I also would like to see the agents get some of the blame, if not ALL of the blame in these situations. I guarantee some pushing comes from them.

He is good but he is a giant pain in the a-s!!

We don't need someone making a scazillion dollars who isn't satisfied with their contract.

These prima-donnas need to figure it out.

winning cures contact cry babies

neugey 09-03-2011 12:02 PM

Too pricy. Maybe we could have Kruetz try to talk him into signing with the Saints for less like he did ... but that would be tampering I'm sure.

That would be a necessity with the Brees signing looming.

SaintPauly 09-04-2011 07:52 PM

Im just curious, if anyone here considers Eli a cry baby, considering he actually refused to sign with SD on draft day, and demanded a trade?

Rookies used to be the cash cow of the NFL agents, signing fat bonuses for no past performance, based simply on the fact that a team has very little leverage to say they won't sign him when they used their first pick in the draft on a guy. Now the new CBA has that all over, so the agents have to look at pushing bigger contracts for franchise type guys like Briggs and Brees and Co. So yeah, they are going to start pushing these guys' egos and making them ask their teams for upwards of 15 mil a year in order to make up for all the losses in rookie contracts.
