Saints sign another vetertan TE

John Gilmore - TE - Saints Saints agreed to terms with TE John Gilmore.
The nine-year veteran was cut by the Steelers Saturday. He'll see time in two-tight end sets as a blocking specialist in New Orleans. Gilmore has never caught more than 15 passes in a season.

Reported by ESPN.com

I thought we should keep a 3rd and I guess they already had this one in the making. Now I would just love to see another veteran safety.

the-commish 09-04-2011 05:33 PM

Who got released with this signing?

Danno 09-04-2011 05:53 PM

I'd guess one of our FB's or King or Humbar or they place Hartley on IR..

homerj07 09-04-2011 06:09 PM

"Hurt"ly!! His injury is costing the team as a whole. Any other kickers out there? Who won the PK for Dallas?

SapperSaint 09-04-2011 06:13 PM

Why not keep Humphreys? This pick-up makes no sense.

Speedy Ron 09-04-2011 07:40 PM

i bet this guy is good. never more than 15 catches in a season.

QBREES9 09-04-2011 07:56 PM

Man they should have kept Tyler.

saintfan 09-04-2011 09:42 PM

I think I read somewhere where we originally drafted this dude. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

foreverfan 09-04-2011 10:10 PM

I guess we want to pound the rock this year.

QBREES9 09-04-2011 10:19 PM

He was originally drafted by the Saints in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

Might be a good move if we plan to use a lot of heavy sets. He might pick up the role that Strief used to take care of.

Cruize 09-05-2011 06:09 AM

Great blocker. Much needed.

Yeah, not exactly gonna use Graham to block...

And if you call the Tackle eligible play, you don't want Strief to have flashbacks and take off on a seam route...;)

But it would be funny as hell!

Danno 09-05-2011 01:59 PM

And Ramon Humber gets the axe. Oh well, I'm sure he'll be back soon.
