Who do you think is really running the show?
 

Every since Sean Payton came to town Rita Benson has been apparently heavily involved in the day to day operations of the Saints. I believe that the turn around in the ownership decisions have made a U turn because Rita is really running the show. She has worked her way up from the bottom and really understands the business side of things.
Benson was always cheap and would sell off our good players. We never spent big money on any player(except Ricky Williams) Remember Bensons a car salesman and has the mentality of a used car salesman.jmho

I think she has a lot to do with a change in mindset A VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE.... It takes money to win. BUT It makes money the more you win!!:goodidea:

I buy the idea that Mr B has the mentality of a used car salesman - no insult intended, I come from a long line of horse thiefs & used cars salesmen - & he thinks (thought?) more in the now & less long term. She has helped the front office to see & understand!! :yinyang:

Sorry Mr.Benson you have been strong armed by your daughter into:

1)Settling for rennovations instead of getting your new stadium.

2)Quieting down about you entertaining the move to Lost Angeles.

3) Forgetting the move to San Antony-Oh.

4) Sitting back and witnessing how stubborness and old school philosophies/tactics wasn't bringing a Championship to WHO-DATS all over the world.

5)Freeing up the cash to allow us to be a contender year in and year out.(can't take it with you Mr.B!)

6)Giving up the "Total Control" mentality allowing Mickey to work his magic.

7)Enjoying your time you have left without having to ever worry about money, or getting wet due to the best umbrellas money can buy while doing "THE BENSON BOOGIE!"

But seriously, I think that RB has taken a lot of the responsibilities to her own hands, and seems to have done a great job at it. It would be hard to explain the certain changes in attitude and actions by the owner if not for her taking more of a responsibility for them.

I thought she presented herself really well during the last preseason game on CST, and she really seemed committed to the NO area, so I don't think she has any intentions to move the team. Especially the player development program for HS and small College players in the area sounded like a really good idea, and probably a life-changer for many underprivileged kids in the future.

I stil think Mr Benson signs off on all the bigger issues, I mean he is still the owner. It is no secret that Rita is his intended heir and she has been working her way up for a long time and seems to be maturing into a real professional and a future owner us fans can be proud of.

It seems like Mr Benson is involved a whole lot in different comittes with the NFL so I would guess that takes a lot of his time.

I believe Loomis and Payton is trusted in making most football moves but I would guess they would need som clearance in bringing in pricey free agents, or they might just get a number and be told to stick to it.


I understand that people might still dislike Mr Benson for the past and his talk about relocation. For me I have forgiven him, he stuck it out after Katrina and kept the franchise in town and finally made the moves that created a championship team and for that I am thankful.
