Former FSU player Gardner charged with probation violation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Former Florida State receiver Talman Gardner remained jailed Friday, charged with violating probation from an earlier drug charge.

Gardner was involved in a traffic accident last Saturday, Tallahassee police spokesman Stewart Clendinen said.

The circumstances of the accident weren't clear, but Clendinen said officers did a routine check on Gardner's license and found two warrants for probation violations.

They arrested Gardner and took him to the Leon County Jail, where he remained Friday, a jail spokeswoman said.

It wasn't known Friday what Gardner is accused of doing that violated his probation.

He was on probation after pleading no contest last May to misdemeanor charges of possessing marijuana and a concealed gun. He was sentenced to a year of probation and 250 hours community service. He had been pulled over for driving suspiciously slow through a state office complex and officers said they found a loaded gun in the car and marijuana in Gardner's possession.
