My Thoughts on The Chicago Game

My Thoughts on The Chicago Game

As one of the "our Defense Sucks" members (I'm normally a Sunshiner actually) I fell like I owe them an apology.

BUT

While we played with much better tempo, and while I'm overjoyed with the result, lets not lose sight of the fact that Chicago has one of the worse OLines in the league.

SO...

Jenkins is a manchild. This dude is good people.
Harper should get an apology from over half this board (and at least one official).
Our RBs are scary good. Oh what I'd give for an accomplished run-blocking line.
Graham is a beast among beasts and plays with Shockey-like 'tude.
We have some young talent on "D" (Junior, Jordan)...promising.
How 'bout Henderson. Has he come a long way or what?
As a Bush defender, I gotta say, Sproles is like Reggie times 3...or maybe 4.

We finally gave the bears a great big **** burger to eat. Oh what a day.

Negatives -
The Bears O-Line and WR's are bad.
The Bears scheme doesn't fit their talents.
^^ Both made the Saints defense look better than it probably is.
The Saints running game is far from fluid.
The blocking from the TE's is not good.
Ingram needs carries to find a rhythm.
Roughing the passer call on Harper was HORRIBLE!
Jenkins needs to ask Devery what's the secret of catching. LOL.
Shanle is what he is.

Positives -
Kasay and Sproles are MONEY.
Brees is looking great.
Devery is catching everything.
Graham is improving every week. He's a coverage nightmare.
Harper and Jenkins hit some people yesterday. Great to see.
Dunbar proved he needs to be on the field as much as possible.
Jordan showed some ability yesterday and has improved.
PT is running like a man on fire.
Galette and Casillas are good when attacking and running forward.
Greer was solid.
The Saints are not being called for alot of penalties.
The Saints beat a team they should have beat.

agree with all of that.

I think in the Dome, we make the Defense play better than it is. The
Defensive players were visibly excited by our noise all day... All day they
kept gesturing wildly at us, and jumping around.

I thought it, and somebody else in my section said it: They looked very "Dome Patrol" yesterday.

Can't disagree with anything that's been said, but I'd like to add that Thomas is clearly our best runner, for now at least, and he's not getting enough carries.

While not being very good, I didn't think the Bears OL was that horrible. We had our hands full with Forte. It was the 4th quarter when it all came undone for them. The OL and Cutler got hung out to dry by Martz. You can't expect any O-line to block 7 or 8 guys.

We still can't cover a RB coming out of the backfield. Forte was uncovered all day and he is 70% of their offense. You can't let their best player beat you like that. Other than that we played OK.

With Shanle and Herring at LBer we will struggle against receiving threat backs all year.

All this negative talk about the Bears is justified but I have one thing to add. They are still the Bears that kicked the crap outta the Failcons.
