LOL..cant wait to beat the snot out of them to..they will be tougher than the Bears ..but we get big Will back...and a W!

Saints will be no problem - Houston Texans Message Boards

Why the Texans will get a win against New Orleans. - Houston Texans Message Board & Forum - TexansTalk.com

Danno 09-19-2011 12:02 PM

They whooped us in pre-season so obviously they're the better team...

strato 09-19-2011 12:08 PM

Some actually know we will be tough and some are just clueless...i will hear it all week from these dreamers..cant wait till Drew lights em up..

crawgator 09-19-2011 12:11 PM

Well the pre season game, well let's just say was very basic. We didn't show the Texan's nothing.. Which is usually the case when you play a team in the pre season then play them again during the season.. AS far as Texans fans.. Well maybe this year they got something to cheer about.. But well lets just say, The Texans haven't had to much to look forward to in the past.. They have always fallen short of those dreaded Colts.. Should turn out to be a good game...

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

|Mitch| 09-19-2011 12:30 PM

Their whole thought process revolves around if they can put up 150+ rushing yards against us they can win...

I don't see running on us to be that easy anymore, especially with us getting big Will back this week. I mean yeah, we'll give up some rushing yards, but I can't see their offense keeping up with ours.

Their smallish defense is having problems stopping the run as well, they did give up 153 yards rushing to the Dolphins...

TackHammer 09-19-2011 12:49 PM

Texan fan here.
Pay no attention to the homers on that board. Most Texan fans know this will be the toughest game yet. And if we play like we did against the Phins we dont stand a chance. The only good thing I can say about that game is we would have lost it last year.
While the Texans could win next week,I think the odds are in your favor.

But I guess you never know till the game is played. Stranger things have happened for sure.....just look at the Titans Ravens game. LOL

Belair57 09-19-2011 12:55 PM

I think you have a solid team. The Texans can score with anyone, including us and they CAN move the ball just like we can. I think this game comes down to turnovers and if we can contain your WRs and limit the big running plays. with that being said ,I think if they spread us out like GB did, they can march up and down on us...but then again, we can that too, so we shall see.

Welcome Tack...this will be a very good game..I dont think yall lose too much without Foster...Tate seems to be a force as well...I think we have our hands full with your team ..but at home will make a big difference..that preseason game wasnt what will be on diplay this sunday...here is to an injury free game ...and a Saints victory!...would like to meet y'all in the Superbowl..that would be a hoot..

We both know they can move the ball, but can they be consistent?
I'm more concerned about the Texans knack for choking when things are going good. Watched them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory to many times to be over confident.
Pretty sure the Texans take the AFC S. But thats not saying much this year.
I'm concerned about our D. It appears they're the real deal, but I have to refer back to my earlier statement. Just not buying it yet.

|Mitch| 09-19-2011 01:17 PM

Welcome TackHammer; it's always fun to talk football with the enemy. I hope you stay classy unlike last weeks Bear fans.

saintfan 09-19-2011 01:19 PM

If we go in with our wig on right we get the W, if for no other reason than we're at home.

If, on the other hard, we start slow or our defense has a brain cramp...we might be in for a barn burner.

Budsdrinker 09-19-2011 01:23 PM

I believe the Domefield advantage is going to be the difference. You know GW is going throw some formations at the Texans that they haven't seen before and the crowd noise is going to make it hard for Schaub to change the plays.

WhoDat!656 09-19-2011 01:30 PM

Short of an injury to Brees, I don't give the Texans much of a chance of beating us Sunday.

darstep 09-19-2011 01:32 PM

I like the Texans, even more when their defense comes to life. Our tackling is like choking down sour milk. We can make this game a lot more competitive than it really has to be. Saints defense will make the difference...one way or another.

I always try and keep things civil. Yeah you have a lot people out there who never leave the home board.
I really get tired of listening to the homers stoke each other.....it's kind like sex with your sister......it just ain't right!!
I know the weakness's on my team and I dont mind admitting them.

Be careful, you're starting to sound like a life-long Saints fan with statements like that.
Happily, though, we haven't had to say things like that too often in recent years.

JoanieNTX 09-19-2011 03:14 PM

Ok, read their comments, and I especially like this one by peytonmanning18 when they were giving him a really hard time over there:

"Well I thought I would come here for some expert opinion on how to handle being a fan of a last place team. You have a lot of experience so I thought I'd come to the best."

With that said, I am little concerned about this game, but I wonder if it's just because I was at the Saints/Texans preseason game where they played their starters "forever", and we played our 3rd stringers against them??? Seems like Kubiak wants to beat the Saints so bad that he would pull out all of the stops to do so, even in preseason, and THAT may just be his downfall. I know I live over here in the Houston area, but still can't bring myself to cheer for them, even when we're not playing them.....they're just a really hard team to love!

xan 09-19-2011 04:13 PM

I am having a hard time figuring out the Texans. They'll be missing Foster, whatever that means. It seems like there's not a definitive personality/style for either offense or defense. That may be good for them, but the preseason game didn't impress me. They've played Indiana State for the Terminally Disabled at home and struggled against a Miami team that does less with more than any other in the league - Reggie got 4 plays?

The fact that the line is at 4 now is more due to a Schaub factor than anything.

Despite all this, I can't think of a matchup problem that the Texans pose that we wouldn't have with any other team. GW bringing 6 40% of the time is going to wear Schaub out. I don't think the Texans coaching staff realizes just how fast and varied the blitz stunts are. Will Schaub be able to recognize them?

jcp026 09-19-2011 04:21 PM

They have a lot of talented receivers and a very good TE (good luck Harper)
They have a great running game (good luck D-Line)
They run a 3-4, which we struggle against, and have Mario Williams (Good luck O-Line)

That being said, I think we're going to win.

jcp026 09-19-2011 04:26 PM

Is it possible for a Saints fan to think any team doesn't have a shot to beat us? I don't think it's in our DNA...we've been hurt too many times.

I was shocked that our D is #1 right now. Little to early to read much into that but it sure feels better then last years ranking.....Damn near dead last.

makes perfect sense to me. I feel sorry for their players, because Houston is a souless megacity, where everyone is from somewhere else, and no one's heart is invested. You're only here because of your work. Their fans need a box of Cialis, because the passion is just not there.

Its sad to see a city that used to have the most rabid fans outside of New Orleans and Green Bay become drab and sterile. Everyone in their stadium is a "client," not a fan.

Look at the two teams you've played thus far. Not hard to be the #1 ranked defense going against Kerry Collins & Chad Henne... Miami being the only real rushing threat put up 150 yards rushing on ya...

Miami was better then I expected. But they did have the #6 D last year.
And at least they didnt put up 500 yards on us like they did the Pats.
Biggest disappointment was the slacking off in the third qtr, thought for sure they where going to blow it. Then Schaub marches down field in 5 plays and scores like it was easy....shat drives me nuts.

GAwhodat 09-19-2011 04:54 PM

Texans..

I think it's going to be a great game.. The only thing that worries me is the Houston running game against our defense.. Seems like we are giving up big running plays moreso than passing.. In defense of our defense we get Big Will back this week and IN the DOME so I'm excited there!! If we don't turn the ball over and we get some turnovers from Houston we should be OK. I have all the confidence in the world on our coaches and QB to figure things out.

Which is why I said it was a little to early to read anything into it.
Considering it's a new D and D cord I'm pretty happy about how they've played. And it's kinda nice to get in a little practice on some weaker teams before going against some of the better talent out there.

The front seven have been really good...just got to wait and see if they can keep it up.

JoanieNTX 09-19-2011 04:58 PM

But can we import some refs from another country or something???

Being that your from Louisiana I dont find it hard to believe you cant cheer for the Texans. Hell i'f I moved to Louisiana I wouldnt change my loyalty's .

RaginCajun83 09-19-2011 05:03 PM

I had a couple guys at work flap their gums last night at me, for the most part they think it's going to be a close game and they are scared of Drew and the Saints offense

TackHammer...you might! It's pretty easy to love the Saints! ;) Hubby used to be a Dallas fan, and when we got married 8 years ago and I moved here from Louisiana, he fell in LOVE with New Orleans and the Saints...now he's a bigger fan than me, if possible!

Obviously, you've never been to the Superdome.

Reliant (even the name is corporate) Stadium is the drabbest, dullest sports experience I've ever had, and I've sat thru the slack of calf roping.
(ask a rodeo person.)

If youre coming to the game, you're in for some culture and some shock.

GAwhodat 09-19-2011 05:16 PM

Hell I moved from South MIss to Atlanta and it will be a cold day in hell that I root for Atlanta. All my friends hate me cause I don't like the falcants or the Bulldogs.

Nothing at all against Houston - I have plenty of family there and spent a lot of time coming over to Astros games in the dome.

But I was so underwhelmed by Reliant Stadium. I came to the last Saints game there (regular season) in what, 2007 or whatever it was?

And hey SM, why you pickin' on Rodeo man? With the NFL rules such as they are, Rodeo may be the last real man's sport. And I don't wanna hear none of that NASCAR caca either.

I've been all over Louisiana, some of it I like, some of it not so much.
The same can be said about pretty much everywhere I've been.

thats a good, level headed statement, Tack. I can get with that.

Im not trying to blast you in any way. just passionate about some
things. thank goodness for this board, where you can express yourself.

I try to stay objective. That being said....in your post about Houston you pretty much ripped every aspect of my home town.
I find that rather insulting to be called soulless, when the very town your attacking opened there arms for you guys after Katrina hit.
I understand smack talk but I dont understand attacking someones city.

I can overlook most stuff on message boards...after all it's the internet and a lot of stuff gets said that wouldnt be said in a personal setting. If people acted like they do on the internet in real life ....my knuckles would never heal.

Belair57 09-19-2011 06:32 PM

I think he can say that about Houston because he lives there...

strato 09-19-2011 06:45 PM

Houston has been good to me..i dont try and hide where i'm from..there is a lot of good people here and as Tack has said it did open its arms and was taken advantage of by some of those lowlifes that it tried to help..I don't like to dog on Houston..i have a lot of good friends there..i just happen to grow up in Louisiana..

I am a Saints fan of 35 years. and i wish the Texans well... just when they don't play us lol..and i don't follow them other than what i hear on local sports radio here...I think we should just try and get along..there are a lot of similarities between the two cities that i see..and a lot of people i know here are Saints fans because of me. Im one lucky dude because i know both cultures..but you cant forget where you came from and try and be something your not..just enjoy all of it..Put me a taco in one hand and a Shrimp Po Boy in the other..:bng:

Yeah but is he from Houston .....or Louisiana. Because I wouldnt think a born and bred Houstonian would say that,so I have to think he's a little biased.

And like I said ...I highly doubt he's that abrasive in person.I'd probably drink beer with the guy.

As far as the things I like about N.O.....Good eaten, good partyen, good music, good fishen and for the most part good people.

But I'm kinda partial to backwoods types...read what you want into that.LOL
