Roman Harper - NFC Defensive Player of the Week

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I bet the Texans have been watching film on Harper and I guarantee that the WRs and TEs has taken extra notice to him knocking that Bear reciever out of the game with a crushing hit......

"The only reason they'll target Harper is because they won't target Greer, Porter or Jenkins. My guess is they attack our weakass LB's on the edge."

Agree totally

Good job Harper. He might not be a 4.2 40 guy, but that's why he's the "strong" safety. The strong part more than makes up for his gear ratio. Harper is one of the few guys we have that won't close his eyes, and will actually hit somebody, and knock them on their ash. Harper has ten other guys to cover for his weaknesses, in fact, all the guys are covered. Harper is definitely top5 in the league.
Now, all those stunts may have work on Frisco, Oakland, and a crippled Bears team, but Charles Schwab knows how to count money. He can throw it up with the best of them, and has the guys that know how to go get it, and are experienced enough to flop for the referees. Neither do we want Tate (or Foster if he's ready) to break the 1st line of defense and already have 8 guys behind him. We will have to play this one mostly straight up, and be able to get pressure with 4-5 for most of the game. This will be another real test, especially if Foster plays. I hate to say it, but Harper may have to lead the team in tackles again this week.

Agree totally

Is it certain that Porter will be able to start on Sunday?

Find a quote from anyone on this board stating that they want Junior cut.

But that's not the point of this thread. Nor is it the point to bring up Harper's contract and wonder how he'll play this weekend.

The point is that Harper was great against the Bears last weekend and deserves credit for playing so well.

There was that game in Seattle last January...

But I'm somewhat of a Harper fan, so I'll get off it.

Congrat's to the man. Gets to the ball. Hits hard once he gets there.

The head of officiating contacted the Saints today and said that the hit on Cutler was a legal hit and shouldn't have been flagged.

The tragedy here is that we have to wait to see which Harper we get.

But, he's in a Saints jersey and I'm happy with that.
