Observation: The Saints are a TEAM

I watched the first episode of "Bill Bellichick, A Football Life". It is a very good look at probably the most enigmatic figure in the NFL. I highly recommend it, because to me, it humanizes Bill's robotic personality.

One of the most striking things to me from the show was a segment where Bellichick was reviewing film with the team. He admonished them for not congratulating teammates after a good play. He showed where Patriots players performed well, but the rest of the team kind of started to line up without showing appreciation for the accomplishment. He chastised them for this.

I was re-watching the play where Devery caught the 79 yd td pass against Chicago. I rewound the play over and over again. I watched Drew's mechanics. I watched the o-line protection. I watched Devery's route. When I finally let the DVR get to after the play, i was struck by how long it took Dev to get back to the sideline. Not because of some ridiculous end zone dance, but because so many teammates were congratulating him. Not merely slapping his butt, but exuberant expressions because their team and teammate had performed well.

My point is that I truly believe in this team because they act like a team. This is why I never count them out and it is so satisfying to finally be able to (rationally) love a TEAM, year after year.

They have a can do attitude which seems to come from a can do coaching staff, and of late, a can do front office. They know that they can get it done and its a beautiful thing. It hasn't always been that way. We have a swagger that's next to none and it comes from our winning ways. Winning breeds winning. I love it!

WHO DAT!

Got to hand it to the staff for putting the right personnel on the field, and instilling it in their minds. It all starts up top. Lets not forget that.

Team comes from great leaders who work hard and lead by example. Guys like Drew, Vilma, Pierre, and yes Devery is a leader...

What can you say about a guy that is talked about every year for being on the bubble, and he comes in and gives us a great two games. May not be a vocal leader, but he is a "hey follow me" type leader without saying a thing.

It was widely reported that he could have left for more money as a #1 or 2 with another team.

He stayed here...............

Don't forget the best part....from La, went to LSU, and has played his whole career so far with the Saints. A true hometown hero.

Every time I hear an interview with one of our players on Sirius, its the same thing. Our players are so unselfish and really feel that if they didn't make the big play, they helped by running their route right or making the right block etc. Our Saints truly are a team.
