Reggie Bush throws former team under the bus, says Saints faked injuries

1 Attachment(s)
The NFL has now gone out and warned all teams in the league not to fake injuries after video shows the New York Giants seemingly doing so during the Monday night game with the St. Louis Rams. Teams have been known to do it to slow down no-huddle offenses, but the league sent out a stern message that it will not be tolerated.

A message from the NFL states:

If you’re found guilty of feigning an injury to gain a competitive advantage, you could be fined, suspended or lose draft picks.

While this has been an issue that has been dealt with off and on in college football for some time, the NFl never really made much note of it until now. Players themselves are speaking out on the situation including Miami Dolphins' running back Reggie Bush. Only, he isn't speaking about his current team but his former one...the New Orleans Saints.

“We actually had that before in New Orleans,” Bush s

He should know, he faked his injuries every year. Hang-nail = 3 games missed.

RockyMountainSaint 09-22-2011 05:45 PM

STFU Reggie!

AllSaints 09-22-2011 05:48 PM

hmmm Whata douche...

neugey 09-22-2011 05:58 PM

I'm sure all our faked injuries don't even add up to all of Reggie's real injuries.

jcp026 09-22-2011 06:05 PM

You guys are mad at Reggie because of the coaches decision to fake injuries? Be mad at the coaches. I thought we were better than this.

All teams do this, it's not that big of a deal. Just cause it's Reggie trying his best to get noticed and get his name out there. Cause he sure as hell can't do it on the field!

|Mitch| 09-22-2011 06:19 PM

Everyone defending Reggie Bush, saying he's still a decent guy.

He's nothing more than a snitch and is only worried about what's good for Reggie.

saintfan 09-22-2011 06:28 PM

I'm not mad at anybody. As I said in another thread, I have no problem with faking injuries as long as offenses are allowed to run the no-huddle. I don't see much difference.

papz 09-22-2011 06:38 PM

He choked as a Saints, Kris Humphries married Kim Kardashian, he got traded to the Dolphins, and now he's losing snaps to Daniel Thomas. He's got to stay relevant some how.

FireVenturi 09-22-2011 06:44 PM

The longer this guy is gone, the more I'm happier he is gone. I know it wasn't him that told players to do it(if that is even the case) , but he did rat....and that can't sit well with other NFL players and former team mates.

papz 09-22-2011 06:49 PM

I don't have a problem with him saying it either... everyone does it. But with the types of punishment Goodell is going to enforce, lost of draft picks included, he should have went the Scott Fujita route and not specifically name us. He could have just said well I know of some players and teams that have done this in the past... and that's it.

Danny Cox 09-22-2011 07:02 PM

See that's my thing. The Saints I'm sure fake injuries along with EVERY team in the NFL and NCAA. Problem is...the league just brought about the possible punishment of even losing draft picks and he's going to out a specific team.

Lord knows the league was watching the Giants closely now after what happened Monday night. So what will Reggie's comments do? Put the Saints in the crosshairs as well.

poydras 09-22-2011 07:11 PM

I don't know why the NFL doesn't just impose a rule that when a man goes down like in the Giants game, he can't re-enter the game until the next possession. Going down would mean sitting out the rest of a drive. You could even make it two possessions. No other penalty needed.

Exactly.

Have we not paid him enough? Does he not have a Superbowl ring? Did we not trade him to a location that suits his talents and where you could get more playing time?

Saintsfan4ever 09-22-2011 07:34 PM

Well Reggie, while you're in the confession booth, why not tell us all about the gifts you and your family received while playing ball in college... I mean it's legal right? .. oh wait, it's not...doh!
I think you're last person that should be pointing fingers about ethics... I'm just sayin.

As if there was ever any doubt. This is a business & he is looking out for number one.

I would hope that some people have more loyalty or team spirit & take the game more for a game BUT... I am not stupid (much) :dunce:

Bush has now become dead to me!

strato 09-22-2011 08:54 PM

LOL...its like i said in another thread ....we don't have to fake injuries we really are hurt...

xan 09-22-2011 09:19 PM

I don't understand why Reggie had to say anything. Were there voiced opinions by other players? What potential gain was there from the statement? Did he consider that he might lose brand equity by weighing in on this? Could he give an example, rather than run a play out the Fox News playbook?

I guess his criminal activity gives him special insight.

Bush is just mad because we upgraded to Sproles, and now he's stuck in a bad situation and we are better off without him. And now, everyone (not just Saints fans) knows it.

LMAO at Reggie Bush. What a tool.

Reggie would know about faking injuries. Oh wait, he had real injuries. That's why he was NEVER on the field.

I'll take Darren Sproles, thanks.

TheEnigma 09-22-2011 11:44 PM

I think Bush is acting out of anger for his stats in the last game. 6 rushes for 18 yards and 1 catch for 3 yards.

strato 09-23-2011 12:57 AM

I guess this means we will have a flop fest this sunday....lol

Here we go... Now with Reggie.. This guy is a bag of crap... He gets USC in trouble..Because of money.. He leaves the Saints because of money... I wonder how many of those injuries Reggie had that he could of played.. Well I guess he makes his money even hurt... Glad this guy is gone.. We can go on and win another Superbowl without that clown...And The only way Reggie going to a Superbowl is if he Buys tickets...

Crusader 09-23-2011 01:41 AM

I don't care about what he says about the Saints. If we are faking injuries that makes me a little upset. Even if "everybody" is doing it we shouldn't. I think it wrong.

It's not wrong to do something everybody else is doing, IMO. Just look at it this way. Is it legal to add saliva to a baseball before you pitch it?

There are some things in sports that are against the rules, they happen anyway, and they are part of the game although they are illegal. I think this action of faking an injury is something that has been going on just about as long as people have been running the no-huddle. The Giants being so flagrant about it is the only reason this issue is getting press, IMO.

FinSaint 09-23-2011 06:03 AM

Well I don't think that - this thread at least - is as much about whether or not faking an injury is alright and if the Saints do it.

I think this is more about why Bush felt the need to specifically name the Saints as a team that has a tradition of faking injuries.

After reading some of the comments on the article - one comment struck me as something to consider. It was about how the Saints as a team and as an organization helped Bush get through the Heisman debacle and how it felt such a betrayal that after all that Bush would do something like this.

I remember reading an article where Bush himself talked about how he had gotten great support from his teammates, coaches, and the organization - and how all that support had helped him to deal with the unpleasantness what was the Heisman debacle. And for him to obviously carry a grudge after something like that... makes me think very little of the man, which is sad because after all that has been said and done - I still have very good memories of him in the black & gold.

In regards to Bush betraying the Saints, it probably was intentional. If I were to speculate, which I have a bad habit of doing...I would speculate that Reggie was hurt deeply when the Saints drafted Ingram. His tweet removes much of the speculation.

The Saints have given Reggie way more than he returned, although he did give us our moments, and at least a couple of games that we can point directly to Reggie for. For him to not be able to separate the business from the game and hold a grudge against the Saints...if in fact that is what he is doing...is sad.

NOS2SB 09-23-2011 06:34 AM

He's just speaking the truth. Im sure every team in the league has this plan, but like he said there was never a rule stopping it. I don't see him throwing the Saints under the bus because there will be no retroactive investigations or punishments.

Saint_LB 09-23-2011 06:42 AM

What is funny is the real story that people are totally missing.

The biggest story to this whole debacle is that the Giants are so crappy, poorly coached, stupid...whatever...that they can't even get the "fake injury" play right. Now, for me...that's the real story.

The Giants look like they are in real trouble this year. However, I can't discount them just yet. They looked worse than this after 3 games in '07, the year they won it all.

You just don't do that. You worry about the team you're on and you shut up about your former. Big surprise he is already hurt in Miami.
