The evolution of the Brooks vs. Delhomme debate

Its really amusing to see how the Brooks vs. Delhomme debate has evolved. No matter what statistics are posted, several members continue to say that Brooks is the better quaterback. However, who is the better quaterback was never the real question. The real question is and always will be, should Haslett have started Delhomme over Brooks when Brooks was obviously injured? Jake has proven this year that the answer to that question is YES!!! There is no doubt in my mind that we would have made the playoffs had Haslett benched an obviously ailing Brooks. Anyone that tries to debate that Aaron Brooks with a tendon detached from bone (I still don't know how they could claim it didnt affect his throwing motion) is a better quaterback than a healthy Jake Delhomme is a fool. Jim Haslett did not put his team in the best position to win. You can throw up all the statistics in the world, or question the athletic ability of both quaterbacks, but it does matter. Jake just wins. He doesn't lose the game for his team, and he finds ways to make plays when he needs to. We would have won one of the last three games last year, and when you get to the playoffs anything can happen.

As far as better quaterback goes, the only way we would have known would to have let Jake play two years ago. But that ship has sailed.

The Patriots are going to do everything they can to stop the run and force Jake Delhomme to beat them. I wonder what I'll read on this board if he pulls it off.

My preferences in order :

1. The official resignation letter from Jim Haslett

2. The obituary column , where it lists Saintsfans name and under comments says \" The weight of the world was too much , the conspiracy theory is true \" .

3. The league letter mandating drug testing for coaching staffs that pull off blunders like to one in New Orleans and the 2002 season .

4. The obituary column , where it lists Billys name and under comments says \" The world seems colder without Saintsfan following behind me \".

5. The letter to the fans of the Saints from owner Tom Benson stating \" The 2002 season was a tragedy in Saints history , the blame is mine and mine alone , I should have stepped in and taken action while action could have been taken .I vow as long as I own the Saints this will never happen again \" .

6. The long awaited letter from the N.F.L. officiating commission \" Ooops , sorry won\'t happen again \".

Not holding my breathe on any of them , but it would be a great start to the off season .

\"Americans play to win at all times. I wouldn\'t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed.\" - George S. Patton

Progress, if that was really the only debate by the people, I would be a very happy man. However, Saints \"fans\" continue to want to put Jake in the HOF while it is clear his job is to not lose games. If you have a very good (not mediocre) defense, you may play that way. However, when you have to go for 6 every time, you can\'t play as conservative. That being said, I sure hope the Saints pursue one of the premier cover corners AND a premier MLB in free agency.
