18. New Orleans Saints
DT Randy Starks*
Maryland This junior is stronger and more instinctive than Kris Jenkins coming out in 2000 and can fill the void left by the release of Grady Jackson.

I found some mo stuff on this guy also...
Strengths: Athletic...Very quick...Powerful...Tough...Instinctive...Has good size...Shows a great burst...Great potential.
Weaknesses: Raw and still developing...Still learning the nuances of the game...Doesn't always give consistent effort...Must learn to fight through double teams.
Notes: One-gapper...Played since his true freshman season...Huge upside...Has the potential to be great...Plays end in the Terps 3-4 scheme.
- Scott Wright

Randy Starks, 6'4 305, runs a 5.1: Heres a college description, Has outstanding athletic ability for such a big guy. Can really move and has great strength. Quick off the ball and can run down swifter backs.
Stock is rising and some project him to be a top ten pick, he really came out of no where.
- Some dude I've never met

With the exception of being \"raw\", doesn\'t this description sound similar to the one we had from Sullivan last year? We need a two-gapper.

Unless they plan to move Sullivan to the 2 gap...
Wasn\'t that the original plan for Sullivan?
Why did they move him to the 3 tech (one gap)? Was it because he needed a year to grow and develop before he moved to the nose?

I\'d feel much more comfortable with a guy who has proven in the NFL that he can stop the run - doesn\'t even have to be a Top 5 star, a good player would suffice. But there\'s not much available in free agency.
In the draft go for the best player available (LB, CB and DT only). There should be at least one good LB left when we pick and he should be that \"best player\".

I don\'t think our D-line is the problem at all. Sully should make much more of an impact next year if past history is any indication on how D-linemen perform. A healty season out of Darren Howard will help. Charles Grant will also benefit from a full season out of Howard. I think one of our exsisting D-line is more than capible on the other side.

Our run problems are a result of the linebackers. That and I think Venturi played the pass more and didn\'t truly commit to stopping the run as much as he should have. I can understand why Venturi played to stop the pass though, considering our cornerbacks needed all the help they could get. I think Venturi was forced into playing the \"bend but don\'t break\" defense. We just didn\'t have the personel to play an attack style defense.

Anyway, I\'m not interested in any D-linemen. Cornerback and linebacker is what we desperatly need. I\'d pick linebackers and cornerbacks in free agency and the draft. Forget everything else.

It was mentioned half-way thorugh the season that he was moved to the one-gap because of his speed, which, in the event that we ever land a true 2-gap DT, Kenny Smith becomes expendable.
And I disagree, this is a position that needs to be addressed, in addition to LB and CB. Who do we have lining up next to Sullivan next year? Kendrick Allen? Are you sure? ;)

Am I sure? NOPE!! What I am sure about is that I would be very happy if they only drafted and signed cornerbacks and linebackers. You can\'t leave anything to chance when it comes to our front office. I figure if we draft only those 2 positions they can\'t screw it up. No, I\'m not sure about that either ;)
