Colston will play Sunday

Colston is back after missing only two games.

“He’s clear. He’ll be up this week,” Sean Payton said in a conference call.

Colston was officially “limited” in practice this week, but it sounds like there’s no doubt he’ll play. The Saints’ multifaceted offense did just fine without Colston, averaging 35 points during two straight wins.

“He’s clear. He’ll be up this week,” Sean Payton said in a conference call.

Like someone stated in another thread. I hope he's ready. I would rather let him heal one more seek and save him for the conference games.

But if he's 100%, Git-er-Done!

Don't think Marcus will be in for more than a few plays against Jacksonville, if at all.

The past couple of weeks should serve notice that we can wait for him to heal properly without missing a beat.

That's crazy fast

homerj07 09-29-2011 11:12 AM

I don't like this one bit!! I do not think we need him this weekend - give him some more time off.

saintfan 09-29-2011 11:53 AM

DON'T DO IT SEAN. Damn...why doesn't anybody listen to me... LOL

If he plays and is more than a decoy I will become angry...

Honestly, this is great news, but WR hasn't exactly been a weakness with our team.

Would love to hear the news that Darren Sharper is signed for a command performance.....

dbonlilv14 09-29-2011 01:27 PM

I agree with you guys, i think we can pull off a W without him. We cant afford to lose him for the rest of the year for rushing him back. LET HIM REST!!

dizzle88 09-29-2011 01:55 PM

I Think Sean will do the smart thing.

He knows not to rush a player back, if he says Colston will play he probably sugar coating it a little bit, saying he will limit the snaps he gets.

He wouldnt force him straight back into full amount of snaps if he wasnt ready, look for Colston to get about 10-20 snaps in my opinion

WhoDat!656 09-29-2011 03:23 PM

Payton might have said that to give the Jag coaches one more thing to worry about!

FireVenturi 09-29-2011 04:56 PM

If he comes back this quick we may have to have him checked for wires instead of blood.

Saints' Colston credits oxygen-rich cocoon for quick healing

METAIRIE, La. – Saints receiver Marques Colston has one message for any injury that attempts to bring him down – don’t mess with him.

Using mind of matter and a bit of new-age technology, New Orleans’ big-bodied receiver said injuries alone can’t bring him down.

“I don’t let my body heal; I heal my body,” Colston said Thursday. “It’s kind of an aggressive approach I take and it has worked well for me over the years.”

Doesn't (or didn't) Sharper use one of the oxygen coffins too? I need to get me one.

lynwood 09-29-2011 05:49 PM

From 4 weeks out to 2? I don't get that...

mikesaintfan 09-29-2011 05:51 PM

however many snaps he gets, i see a big Ingram run while the jags are chasing our WR's

T.O. used one of those hyper-baric chamber things when he broke his leg playing for philly

Cruize 09-29-2011 05:59 PM

I wonder if he could use mind over matter and make himself faster. LOL. Just kidding Mr. Colston. I like you just the way you are.

B_Dub_Saint 09-29-2011 07:07 PM

Damn he is like Wolverine. I just hope Colston is 100% and is ready to go. I can see coach just getting him acclimated again and not over using him.

halloween 65 09-29-2011 07:31 PM

I do not understand the rush, seems to me Saints have been o.k. so far. If he is o.k. fine, but if not one good hit could set him back a lot longer than 4 weeks. guess we'll find out Sunday..

RaginCajun83 09-29-2011 08:00 PM

Its against an AFC team give him rest, this offense is clicking so why rush him back. If he's going to suit up give Colston a few plays and then get him out of there

I totally understand his perspective, as a player you always HATE to miss games due to injury and will do most whatever it takes to get back. The man is a fierce competitor and you can't compete on the sidelines.

FinSaint 09-30-2011 06:45 AM

The thing is that we don't know for sure how bad the injury was in the first place. It could've been over exaggerated and the 2 weeks recovery time might've been more on point than the 4 weeks in the first place.

Maybe it was done on purpose or maybe there was some type of misdiagnose... or maybe Colston just recovered quicker than expected. None of us knows the truth, but if the coaches think he's ready, I say dress him up 'cos he is the Saints' #1 WR and they'll be better with him in than him out.

It would be well adviced not to take Jacksonville too lightly, especially with the Saints' track record against teams with losing records. A loss now against a team like JAX could have a devastating affect on the good performance progression built during the past weeks, and that is something the Saints' certainly don't need in the threshold of a couple of division games.

Anyway, he needs to get cracking if he wants to get another 1000+ yard season.
