Haz hands on LB unit in 2004?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I wonder, last year Haz and Co were so busy trying to jell a new defense that perhaps some areas weren't fine tuned enough with hands on attention. Anyone think that maybe in 2004, Haz will be able to assist ...

Haz hands on LB unit in 2004?

I wonder, last year Haz and Co were so busy trying to jell a new defense that perhaps some areas weren't fine tuned enough with hands on attention. Anyone think that maybe in 2004, Haz will be able to assist with fine tuning specific units (like LB play) as opposed to trying to implemnet 7 new starters into the defense?
Just a thought.
Haz haters need not reply.

Haz haters need not apply . I like that ...

How do you fine tune mediocrity ???

Haslett

95 Linebacker coach New Orleans Saints - such notable standouts as Rufus Porter and Renaldo Turnbull .The defensive ranking # 18

96 Defensive coordinator New Orleans Saints - under his valued coaching expertise the team ends up with a defensive ranking of 20th in the league .

96 Pittsburgh Steelers have the 4th ranked defense in the league .

97 Haslett goes to Pittsburgh with a solid defensive unit in place for him to destroy with a wealth of technique and coaching ability .The Steelers end up dropping to 11th in the league .

98 Haslett has his best coaching year in Pittsburgh , they do not lose ground for once and end up 7th .

99 Hasletts unit drops to 12th .

Hasletts tenure in Pittsburgh was clearly helped by the already existing core of Lake , Kirkland and Lloyd . Remember he starts with the 4th Ranked defense in the N.F.L.

Hasletts defensive coaching is like putting a band aid on a Battleship leak , he slows the process but the ship is still sinking .....

Every time I post I expect to get insightful reasonable repsonses by intelligent well meaning posters. But more often than not I get another lame we suck post from 08.
Haz and company could cure cance and you\'d be the 1st to claim it happened in spite of Haz, and pull multiple (and questionable) meaningless statistics that loosley (and I\'m being generous) try to back up what you claim.
I truly think you are an ex-poilitician.
Do you sit there and assemble 30 stats and use the 4 or 5 that may help you tear down everyones opinion, and ignore the 20 or so others that would make you look more foolish?
Your posts are shortsighted and annoying.
I think its time to just go back to ignoring your responses. They\'re a waste of time and more often than not largely flawed.

Good point.

I think (and I\'m being optimistic here) that we see improvement in many different areas with what you\'re talking about here. Specically, the offensive line, defensive line and safeties could benefit from some continuity. Without having to focus so much on the \'big picture\' Haslet should be able to zero in on what he really knows best, linebackers. I think this attention will be important cause we will probably have at least one new starter and maybe as many as three at the position.

Which LBs would you definitely bring back AS A STARTER? I\'m thinking maybe on both Ruff and Rodgers.

Anyway, I mention all of that to say that the company line from Haz and Co. will probably be continuity this off-season. Let the team gell; Avoid massive turnover; Focus on the details. The pessimist in me wants to scream BS, but, since Haz and his crew won\'t be going anywhere, I am officially drinking the kool-aid (gulp) and buying in. I do think that continuity will help us improve on both sides of the ball. My only worry is that the LBs and CBs will not benefit from said consistency because we will have at least a fifty percent turnover at the starting spots for each position.

I will end my incoherent ramble now. Bottoms up (gulp). This stuff is good.

Signed,
Happy fan (until we draft a OG with our 1st round pick and make our major FA LB acquisition a 5\'11\" \'project\' off of the Cardinals practice squad)

Haz and company could cure cancer
Danno, hasn\'t Haslett done that every year he\'s been here? Cured the team of cancers? LMAO.

Listen, people need to stop seeing 08 and start reading the man\'s posts. I don\'t disagree with him. He provided stats that \"loosely\" backup his point. They explicitly backup his point. Haslett never did well here, and in Pittsburgh he was helped out with a great defense to begin with. Can you argue that?

Now, might he spend time working on the linebackers. I\'ll guarantee that he\'ll do that. The question is whether or not that will do any good. I mean, we\'ve had plenty of money and plenty of time and Haslett hasn\'t done a ton with the talent thus far. He ruined Charlie Clemmons. Say what you will, but if Rodgers had lead the team with 105 tackles, had 3 INTs, and 15.5 sacks this season everyone on this board would be talking about how great the guy is. Well that is exactly what Clemmons did as an OLB in \'01. In \'02 HASLETT chose to move him to MLB where, behind to of the worst DTs in the game, he had an off year. So Haslett and Co ship him off rather than move him back outside. How is that a good plan?

The negativity is getting old and worn out and I\'m sick of hearing it. I\'ve heard it for 37 years. Now we can hear it via chat rooms and forums? Every day on every issue?
My post pointed out that Haz may be able to devote more attention on a unit that struggled. How can that be a bad thing? I suppose he could ignore the problem and I guess it will disappear. Yea thats it. Since Haz sucks he should just ignore the problems we\'re having. Yea that the secret to going to the playoffs.
This post had nothing to do with whether or not Haz should be the coach of this team. But the 1st stinking reply was how much Haz sucked. My 8 year old can stay on topic easier than that. And he usually provides more intelligent insight.
Its too simple to focus on negatives. I prefer to focus on the positives.
I find the Democratic debates more entertaining the the constant harping on the negatives frequently displayed on this sight by what seems like the majority of regulars wallowed in a loser mentality.
BORING!

Welcome to the club. I guess I don\'t need to tell you that you\'re in the minority.

I\'m constantly amazed at how easy people think it is.

\"Well, so and so took over that team over there and look at them. Our coach must suck. Our QB must suck.\" Winning isn\'t even good enough...

\"What, we didn\'t beat that team by 50? Man we suck.\"

I keep sayin if it were so easy it would have happened by now.

I like to think that everyone has the right to post whatever it is they want, as long as it\'s not insulting and it relates to football. I also like to think that anyone can question whatever is posted on this board if they don\'t agree with it, as long as it\'s not insulting.

While I understand Danno and others not wanting to read some members posts that are always negitive, I do not agree with trying to call them out for being negitive. I\'ve been guilty of doing this myself, so I\'m not trying to call anyone out. Point is, someone might feel the same way about reading your post. Unless something is insulting, then I don\'t think we have the right to try to persuade someone not to post their thoughts...Whether that be postive or negitive.

If someone posts something, I\'m going to comment on it if I choose to. If they get their feelings hurt because I don\'t agree with it, then I don\'t think they have their emotions in check. As long as things are kept civil, I don\'t see why there should be any problems.

Now, if things get to the point of insults being thrown around, I hope the moderator will step in and take care of it. If I\'m in the wrong, so be it. If the other person is in the wrong, then I expect them to be lined out. Simple as that.
