Free-agent C Jerry Fontenot had a strong season and would like to return. But the club has invested high- to midround draft picks in OLs LeCharles Bentley, Montrae Holland and Jon Stinchcomb and signed G Kendyl Jacox to an extension. It will want to get those players on the field. Bentley could be moved to center, but that would be hampered by offseason knee ligament surgery. He might not be able to work full time until training camp. Fontenot could be brought back as a reserve, but he might not want to after 12 seasons as a starter.

Fix-it man sought

The club could select a defensive tackle with one of its three picks in the first two rounds. Fixing the run defense is a priority. DL Kenny Smith and Willie Whitehead are solid players, but they aren't big enough to anchor the interior. The signing of TE Boo Williams to a long-term contract solidifies the position. Williams emerged as a weapon down the stretch. A wide receiver at Arkansas, Williams needed a couple of years to add weight and improve his blocking. Williams, 6-4, 260, is too big for defensive backs to cover and too fast for most linebackers to cover.
