This pretty much sums up why I don't think the Panthers will beat the Patriots this Sunday.

As a measure of Delhomme's unassuming nature, it has been pointed out that the Panthers have won five times when his passing accounted for fewer than 150 yards. Even in the NFC championship, he threw only 14 passes, his fewest all year. Clearly, he is no quarterback demanding ego massage weekly. The more basic message, however, is that the Panthers win by limiting Delhomme's contributions rather than depending on them.

If Delhomme can avoid from making mistakes, then the Panthers can win this game. The Patroits aren\'t that talented. They find ways to win, but they are very beatable.

Jake simply needs to do what he\'s been doing all year and that is let the running game and defense win the game. Jake has had a few decent games throwing the ball, but it wouldn\'t be wise to depend on the passing game to win this one.

This team is simular to the Chicago Bears. Except Delhomme isn\'t as good as McMahon, Davis isn\'t as good as Walter Payton, and the Panthers defense isn\'t as good, but they win the games the same way.

I don\'t think they (Panthers) can beat the Patriots by just running or just passing -- or even just passing a little bit, and I don\'t think the Panthers have the talent to pass against New England. In my opinion the only way the Panthers can beat the Patriots would be the same way they beat the Eagles. If New England doesn\'t show up (like the Eagles) then Carolina has a shot. Ever known a Belicheck team to fail to show up? I\'m sure it\'s happened, but I don\'t remember when.

On paper it appears the Pathers can\'t win. But, I think the Panthers will be able to run the ball. I also think they will be successful in the short passing game. I don\'t see Jake going down the filed deep on them, but I don\'t think he will have to.

On the flip side, Brady might have trouble against the Panthers defense. I think it\'s going to come down to turnovers and if the Panthers don\'t have any, I think they can win.

This looks like a good old fashioned smash mouth ball game. Two very good Defenses going up against moderate offenses. The team that limits the mistakes should come out on top. The difference could be a penalty in the redzone. Certainly a turnover will be devastating for either team. New England doesn\'t run much but relies on high effeciency short passes and primarily runs draws when they do run. Carolina relies on the running game and mostly ball control type passes. Both have good Special teams. Carolina must find a way to deal with the Pats putting 8 men in the box on D or else they may be in trouble with a very limited running game. The best way to limit the extra man on D is to slant away from the overload. The Pats dominated the Colts yet they could only muster one offensive TD. The Panthers did manage 29 points against the Boys as well as the Rams and 14 against the the Eagles. They gave up 10, 23 and 3 points respectively. Don\'t be surprised if you see a 7-6 game. If its close I think the Panthers will win, that\'s just their style of football. But what do I know, I\'m usually wrong about most things.

I want the Saints to win the Superbowl. I don\'t care if Jake is from Louisiana or not. To see another team from our division win the Superbowl would make me puke. No, Gator, I\'m not pulling for the Panthers. No way, no how.

And I recall one of those 7 comebacks he gets credit for was a blocked field goal. Jake didn\'t block it. Sure, he had something to do with their success. That can\'t be argued. He was not the key however, and that can be argued. None of ya\'ll big Jake supporters have mentioned his tendancy to throw off balance off his back foot...tossing ill advised passes up for grabs, only to get incredibly fortunate to have one of his recievers manage, somehow, to catch it. The TD against the Eagles is just another example. This guy is playing on pure luck more often than not. I\'m not saying he\'s not a good QB, only that he\'s been an incredibly lucky one. We\'ll see if that luck continues this Sunday.

C'mon Man...

Bitter...maybe. I\'m just that way. I hated Bradshaw as a Steeler too. He\'s the reason I pulled for Roger and the Cowboys.

...and I wouldn\'t pull for the 49ers if they relocated to Shreveport! :P

Sounds like just about everyone is betting against the Panthers. I reckon that gives them good odds. Afterall, how many of you said that these same Patties would beat the Rams two years ago? They\'ve been underdogs all season long. Don\'t kid yourselves, Smith, Muhammad, and Foster are all explosive, and Davis is bruising... and like Gator said, Jake CAN light it up. This one should be a good one.
