New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton likes to say every Sunday in the NFL is either a crisis or a carnival for fans and the media, depending on the outcome of your team's game. With the New Orleans Saints defense, this crisis-or-carnival experience often occurs from series to series, even play to play.
Like the city it represents, the Saints' defense is going to drive you nuts from time to time, it'll cause you to pull your hair out and scream to the heavens, but it will never, ever bore you.
This is how defensive coordinator Gregg Williams wants it. His motto, after all, is, "Live on the edge, play on the edge."
As long as he is in charge of the unit, the Saints are going to continue to attack and let the yellow flags fall where they may.
"Sometimes you get the bear, and sometimes the bear gets you," Williams said. "We're going to live on the edge and get after the quarterback, and we're not going to change. We're going to go down swinging."

I have no issue with the flags. I agree with the aggressive approach and acknowledge that at times we're going to get flagged. That's life.

PI is another story, and so is the fact that we appear to be so interested in the "big hit" that we tackle like douchenozzles. Allowing the other team to run the option with success in the NFL is unacceptable.

Hmmm, that 3 man rush looked like it was pretty far from the edge...

Thought we got very little pressure on Scam Newton with our front four... but maybe that was the idea? Playing to not let him get out of the pocket?

I love our aggressiveness with the blitz... we got screwed twice on those late hit calls IMO.

And can someone tell me where has Vilma been? Is he still nursing that knee or what? Haven't heard anyone (commentator, fan, coach, etc.) call his name in about 12 games or so. Seems like if he's not covering the TE down the middle of the field he's non-existant. Don't ridicule me too bad...I'm just stating what I've been observing for awhile.

Every week the same thing. Greer just got out muscled by SSmith. He's not the first and won't be the last. It looked like a few business decisions were made on the Williams scamper. It looked like nobody made a decision to get in front of him and get trampled. They ALL took a step in the path of least resistance and then made a lunge at him from the side. Anybody seen my paddle?
The big plays really did change the look of things and took away take-away opportunities that may have existed within the extra 8 plays or so they would have used to continue those drives. That has to get cleaned up.
