Saints red zone performance .....

There is no reason our PPG couldn't be league leading if we actual put it in the end zone instead of 3 pointers. The all important 3rd down conversion stat is great but but I feel SP & clan are fully aware of the need to punch it in to get another super bowl title. The positive is there is no reason red zone play can't be corrected with a quickness, be it play calling or whatever as the talent is there & have a running game to let DB be DB . I say play even more up tempo in the red & do it often....I am basically sick of the FG's & hope all that changes this weekend.

Best play called was Drew's hurry-up offense that punched one in at Carolina.

I want more of that.

First of all Welcome Soldano, your not the only one who is tired of this. Yes we do need to take care of this before we lose more than just a game. It might just kill us in the post season. I hope than can take care of this sooner than later

Our O-Line gets blown off the ball ...we should be able to run in from the five with three tries...but yet we have to throw...come on big boys BLOCK!

dizzle88 10-14-2011 09:27 AM

To say we have possibly the best two tackles in the league with nicks and Evans, our run blocking is pretty poor when we get inside the 10 yard line, agreed let Drew use the quick huddle tempo, it killed Houston on the last drive when he called all the plays himself and it recently beat Carolina with 50 seconds remaining, it keeps the defense severely on their heels.

Spread em out, give it to Sproles inside the 10. Bring in Ingram for play action inside the 5

It's very hard for a back to score when there are no holes to run through. Our Oline sucks.............that's right I said it. We flat out suck!!!!!!

Chicago's online flat out sucks. Ours flat out underachieves.

It's amazing we're 4-1 with a crappy o-line. Imagine if we had a better one, we'd probably be 4-1.

We'd be undefeated and GB would be 4-1. Short Yardage at the end of the GB game...

papz 10-14-2011 03:04 PM

That's not a given. We came back from a large deficit and would still have had a two point conversion.

On that same note, in my opinion, had Ingram not been so hesitant in his decision to leap or plow forward, he might have made it in. I wouldn't lay all the blame on our interior line on that one.

SaintsBro 10-14-2011 03:18 PM

I actually lay a lot of the blame on the ridiculous and inexcusable 108 yard kickoff return for a touchdown, which put the Saints right back in the huge hole right when they were just digging out from the Colston fumble, and giving ALL the momentum back to Green Bay, being behind by two scores again, thus leading to the need for ridonkulous Drew-led heroic comebacks and 1 yard needed on the last possible play of the game just to even TIE the thing. If the game had continued normally from being behind 28-20 in the 3rd, it would have had a TOTALLY different ending scenario, and thus all the people here focusing now obsessively on Ingram gaining that 1 yard would not have seemed nearly so crucial. Gaining that one yard wasn't even to win the game, they still needed the 2 pointer. Just. To. Tie.

Danno 10-14-2011 04:07 PM

All the Green Bay game showed me is that we are on equal footing with Green Bay, and one or two mistakes either way will decide the outcome.

I'm sure if we both make the playoffs, both teams' fans will be hoping the other gets eliminated.

I don't particularly wanna go up to Lambeau, and I'm sure they probably don't want us to come up there either.

lumm0x 10-14-2011 07:02 PM

Our two biggest issues. Red zone offense and 3rd down defense.

Our o-line is average to above average. Saying we suck is a gross exaggeration and not appreciative of the crap we have fielded in the past. These guys are very decent. It could be alot worse.

You're right. Certainly not a given. But I had all the hope in the world and very little faith that we'd be able to run it in. We weren't able to as it turned out.

I blame the play call because (a) we are not a power run team by any stretch and (b) why would you give it to the rook in any case?

No matter. We b what we b. And I've cooled just a bit on bashing our oline (even though they do not excel at run blocking) because all I have to do is look at the Bears to be thankful for what we do have.

I agree our red zone "o' - sucks!! Anyone on the site live during a game knows we ALL agree with that!!
