Should Kreutz be benched?

To follow up on your sentiment... I thought that it was weird that Kreutz immediately was wearing the captain's patch in the season opener against the Packers, because I would've thought that, for example, one of the guards would've stepped up as the leader - of the O-line at least.

But I can't recall Kreutz having the patch anymore, so he must have lost it somewhere along the way... anyway, I thought that Brees, Vilma, and Roby were the captains of the 3 teams, but I know Smith has also worn the C at times.

And to comment on the original question of the thread - I would like to see DLP take that center position from Kreutz simply because he was able to create push from the middle, which Kreutz hasn't been able to do in any of the games he has played for the Saints. This was one of the biggest complaints the Bears' fans also had about him... being undersized and getting pushed back or even on to his back by the D-linemen.

I never heard his name he must be good, De La Puente seems more effective.

Maybe we miss Goodwin more than we thought we would. Niners are 5-1 and running the ball very well.

I hope the coaches let DLP play..we were running the ball better with him in there....and he wasn't getting blown off the ball like Kreutz...we seemed to have a little chemistry going . Why fix what wasn't broken?

Also, I am not sure if the details of Kreutz's contract have been released, but I recall it being 2M + another 2M if certain conditions are met. If those certain conditions were... for example, tied to how many games he starts this season - the Saints could potentially save 2M by starting DLP instead of Kreutz.

I know the conditions are probably performance based in another way, and that it would be kind of a rotten deal for the Saints to screw him over in such a way if it was the type of a deal I mentioned above, but in the end it is a business and if DLP can at least be as effective as Kreutz - I wouldn't see a problem with benching Kreutz.

Well, chicago did let him go. If he was all that, seems they would have fought harder to re-sign him. Once again, whats up with Tennant? Thought he was ready to go!

Any Kreutz news lately? Did we bench him? Is he still passionate? How are his finances?
