Just three seasons removed from one of the most controversial and bizarre draft day spectacles in the history of the NFL, it appears that the team from the Big Easy is ready for more of the same. Anonymous sources close to the Saints’ brass have reported that New Orleans, which holds two picks in the second round, thanks to the Turley trade with the Rams, is prepared to offer both second round picks and its first round pick (#18) to San Diego for the right to pick first. The source wasn’t able to pinpoint the target of the Saints manuevering; however there is widespread speculation that the Saints could be learning what Indy knew several years back when they picked a Manning first overall;
that is: a Manning under center equals wins for an organization. It is believed , that under the tutelage of seasoned veteran Aaron Brooks, Manning could be the franchise savior that former coach Mike Ditka envisioned Ricky Williams to be. Many experts believe that Aaron Brooks would garner at least a first round pick in a trade. Some say just a first round wouldn’t be enough for the gunslinger out of Virginia, who once served as a Brett Farve backup. They believe that a package deal with a first round pick and top LB or CB included would be a fair if not good deal to perspective suitors of Brooks’ talents. Washington Redskins new head coach Joe Gibbs is said to be so enamored with Brooks, that a first round pick and disgruntled CB Champ Bailey as a trade to finish off the package deal would be acceptable if it were doable this season (2004). Attempts to reach Chargers headquarters were unsuccessful.

08, I feel like there\'s an echo of what we\'ve been saying for months now. Even though I hate that Joe Gibbs would wreck his comeback on Brooks. I like Gibbs and want him to succeed. Now if, we could interest Gruden in taking Brooks....

If the \'Aints make some miracle deal to get Eli, they could be securing their QB spot for the next decade.

This person lost all credibilty with me when he mentioned Brooks in teh same breath as a 1st. round pick though.

The Falcons Brooks board is almost as bad as the Saints.. ;)

Man, you guys are just silly. We all get aggrivated over the Saints being so close yet so far but to attack a quarterback that is better than any qb that we\'ve had for what.. 10 years? 20 years? I mean, Hebert and Walsh were okay but Brooks is much better than those two. Everett? MAYBE. But he was at the end of his career.

I wonder what team you really are rooting for? Are you a secret agent Redskins fan? Have you come into the Saints forum to try to wreck us from within? Come on , Brooks numbers are better than most qb\'s out there and you think that he\'s the cancer? The Saints have to get some defensive help through the draft and free agency. They\'ve hired a new receivers coach to get these receivers to catch the dadgum ball. Is it really Brooks? No.

And , I noticed that the poster on the Falcons board didn\'t post a link to his fact finding. Sounds familiar. Are you really a Falcons fan that goes by the name wadecummings? Are you really a Saints fan? Your posts tell me otherwise.

alsaints may not be eloquent in his posts but he has a point. Be a Saints fan. Stand by your team team (if it IS your team.)

I don\'t normally go on the offensive and attack people but enough already. AB is the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints and I\'ll support him until he starts putting up BAD numbers. He\'s struggled at times but so have many of the popular quarterbacks.

This is my team.
My name is iceshack and I\'m a Saints fan.

Let me get this straight...

#1, #2A and 2B for Eli
Then trade Brooks for a 1st and a stud corner like Bailey?

So basically we\'d get swap Brooks for Eli for what amounts to one of our 2nd\'s, since we were going to use an early pick on a corner already?

I like Brooks alot, but I\'d take that deal in a flash.

Get: Eli, Bailey and a 1st.
Lose: Brooks a 1st and two 2nd round picks.

No way thats for real.

I agree, Danno, as much as I would like to believe that this is real, I\'m having a hard time thinking this is anything beyond vapor. I\'d take the Redskins 1st and try to trade down to the middle of the 1st round and pick up a few more picks as well.

Less Honess or for you really slow folks. Less Honest.

I\'ve asked once and I am asking again. How long is going to be allowed to break the rules by posting these rediculous stories?

How long are you going to try to run this board?

There\'s a link to a Falcons board where some falcons fan posted that story that had NO LINK. So what is doing is posting a story that has no link directly to it. It\'s a clear violation of the rules.

I think most people can determine that this stroy is a FAKE, but some people might actually believe this story. I think this is the worst form of breaking rules and I hope it\'s not allowed to continue.
