Lance Briggs

Would Lance Biggs be worth a 2nd round pick?

It would leave us without a 1st and a 2nd for next year. But it may help the team in the long term.

jcp026 10-18-2011 01:40 PM

Not many people fetch a 2nd round pick these days. I'd go four or five, but not two or three.

Crusader 10-18-2011 03:24 PM

Right off the bat I'd say no. I would rather see us spend that 2 on a younger LB come the draft.

Speedy Ron 10-18-2011 03:56 PM

briggs would be a much needed up grade on our middle d
our lbs are pitiful. absolute garbage.

xan 10-18-2011 04:00 PM

Go young. If you can't go young, go rich. If you can't go rich, go ugly. Most often, it is the trifecta - old, poor and 1980 Saints helmet.

I have employed this strategy before, a long time ago, but it had precisely nothing to do with football. :-)

st thomas 10-18-2011 04:54 PM

heard loomis yesterday saying not interested in trade deadline at all because we don't need nobody.

Euphoria 10-18-2011 05:02 PM

Trading is out of the question indeed.

Giving up more picks from this coming draft, ouch. We are going to be hurting for picks as it is.

If we can get some developing on the D side of the ball we'd be a good bit better.

He said they weren't actively shopping for someone but if they got a call they'd listen.

"Not interested" isn't the same as "we'd listen".

And I doubt he's gonna say "Yeah, we're looking to upgrade Scott Shanle".

That would be the same answer if they were actively processing 6 different trades. Its GM speak.

foreverfan 10-18-2011 05:50 PM

And how are you going to fit these people under the cap and sign Brees?

Boutte 10-18-2011 08:20 PM

I think we should stockpile 6th and 7th rounders. They're cheaper and often as not just as good.

And Nicks

jeanpierre 10-18-2011 10:37 PM

Everything on defensive and offensive lines is just peachy-keen...

jeanpierre 10-18-2011 10:38 PM

Briggs is worth a three if we can get the Pass Rush going...

Problem is, he wants to be paid quarterback money.

FireVenturi 10-18-2011 10:40 PM

Briggs is a good player, but not great. Urlacher makes him a pro bowler.

Nicks better step his game up before we give him a lot of cash. Don't get me wrong i really like the guy but I think he has taken a big step backwards, he is so big and powerful and explosive and still its very seldom that you see him dominate sombody. Still miss the OJ OL.

Yeah, the step backwards was to cover Olen Kreutz missed assignment.

I kinda agree here..Nicks might not be worth the advertised price...he should be blowing people up..maybe the lockout...lol

I'm all for taking care of Drew. Next year we will see who else is important.

Meachum and a later round, or maybe Meacum and Ivory and a later round. I would do it in a heartbeat. Hell I would trade Colston for him.

homerj07 10-22-2011 12:19 PM

Well deadline has come & gone....

nicebush25 10-22-2011 01:21 PM

Bringing in briggs would give this defense what its been sorely missing since 2008...scott fujita

Briggs is an overpaid slightly above average NFL player?

Regardless, the trade deadline has passed.

halloween 65 10-22-2011 04:34 PM

Shift the linebackers, Wilson in the middle, bring Bussey up,Vilma for Shanle. You know the rooks talked in collage. Vilma could easily make that side stouter. Rooks should play a lot faster. Baptism by fire.

I think Wilson would be good on the outside where is speed and athleticism can be used...I thinks its a matter of time before he gets more playing time..he is still grasping the mental aspect...but he has the physical tools to be a solid LB...still want to see Bussey and Johnny Patrick also.

Marlboro Man 10-23-2011 03:51 PM

No thanks. I don't want no more useless, overrated, washed up wuss players from the Bears. Nothin but losers.
