Jimmy Graham wants Lebron James to play for Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Heck, I love the idea, and agree with Graham's approach. How about Lebron as a WR? I mean 6"8, I am sure he can run at least a 4.7 40, would be lethal in the red zone. Seriously, the recent ...

Seriously, the recent history of basketball players transitioning to football has been good. Why not give Lebron a chance if he becomes serious? Can you imagine Drew Brees throwing a high jump ball in the end zone and Lebron comes down with it? That would be way too sick. No defense would be able to stop that for sure.

There's no need for him on the offensive side of the game, but as a CB or SS covering TEs...?

Anyway, as stated earlier, the Saints have no need for a media hype player like him. JAX, MIA, or even NYG would be better fits for him as he wouldn't even get the ball in the Saints' offense.

And about his departure from Cleveland... the FO there f'ed him over with all the promises of building a contender team, and year and year those promises were proven as nothing more than hot air. So, while he obviously didn't take the high road - some of the blame should be placed on the Cleveland FO, which was more interested in raking in the profits from the tickets/merch sales Lebron created than spending some of that money to create a good basketball team.

If you listen to some people they have you believe there is nothing wrong with our D and what we need is more offense.

With James skill set I can't see him anywhere but offense though.

I love the idea as a WR but you talk about a major learning curve, I am sure he could do it but not over night. You pretty much are going to have to have him try out and see where he fits.

A name like him would attract more players!?!?!

Sean Payton likes him some TE's.

There are a lot of 2 TE sets in the offense... James and Jimmy wow.

I wonder how long it took Jimmy Graham to catch a pass, and not have the instinct to try and dribble it........ Seriously!

Oh, yeah...I can see that happening. The guy makes a gazillion dollars playing basketball...and just because he is not getting a paycheck now, he is going to go play a sport that could blow out a number of different body parts in a nanosecond. Yes...that would be brilliant of him to risk all that money on a whim.

It is obviously a tactic to get the owner's attention. I would like to see it happen, though. I mean, it's not going to bother me if he flushes his basketball career down the toilet....might be entertaining to watch.

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Lebron is a specimen, no doubt. Not sure he could learn to catch or play D in Pads. It's a fun fantasy, not even a slight reality. Graham worships him, so he thinks he would excel doing anything. Much like us and Drew.

he should already know how to catch... didn't he play WR in high school?
It would just be a matter of learning the playbook, and proving his talent.

But, having said that, I'm not sure how I'd feel about having him on the Saints roster. I guess it'd be better than facing him on the Panties', Buc's, or Clown's rosters.
Anytime you talk about someone who's name is that big, you have to consider the team chemistry element. I was super worried about Shockey coming to the Saints, but that worked out better than I thought it would.

Lebron would be a good stunt for a team that needs to put butts in the seats & that is not the Saints!!
