I wonder what sort of value we could get Henson for? Maybe if the Texans would just take a #2 for him then we could snatch him up and get serious about the Brooks trade?

Only problem is that you have a list of about 10 teams that are interested in him. Some have more of a need for a QB then we do and will probably give up more than we would.

I really don\'t understand the logic behind this sort of plan. Whether it be Eli Manning or Henson, doesn\'t it seem clear that if we get rid of Brooks in echange for a rookie QB that the offense will take a step backwards in 2004?

I don\'t care how good he is, as a rookie any QB is going to need time to adjust. So, you\'re either talking about going with Bouman for 2004 or scraping 2004 as a year of on-job-training for a rookie QB.

I think it\'s pretty clear that Haslet has to go to the playoffs in 2004 so he\'s not going to start a rookie just so the next coach can have an experienced second year QB.

This just doesn\'t make sense for the organization short-term or Haslet long-term.

Good point. I think the long term answer may be playing NFLE this year.
If Haz had been fired and we were starting over with a new staff, then yes, I\'d agree somewhat.

Brooks is gonna be here next year. We have to accept it. Besides he\'s way down the list of problems with this team. WAY DOWN!!!
The only hope for the BrooksMustGo crowd is that the venomous hatred and non-stop boos increase to the point a change must be made. With Jakes success it may happen though. But its gonna have to get REAL ugly, and I don\'t want to see it.

Good point and one I agree with completely. There\'s only one reason I give the Eli talk (I don\'t really think Henson is an option for us) any consideration. Putting a Manning in Black and Gold is a GREAT move for the organization. Not only do they get a hometown favorite that the fans will love and a guy that should be a great QB, but f they can do that and in the mean time rid themselves of a $36 million PR problem, it could be win-win. Don\'t forget, Bouman was the QB that Haslett ORIGINALLY wanted as the starter in NO. There seems to be a perception on this board that Bouman is way behind Brooks. I don\'t know if that\'s really the case. Maybe Haslett sees that fans are criticizing him primary for his marriage to Brooks (true or not, justified or not, everyone on this board certainly knows the outcry about AB). I mean Jake went to the Super Bowl in his first season as a starter, and from what I\'ve heard, Haslett thinks Bouman is as good. That has to make you think a little bit, no? I\'m not saying I support this move, but I am saying that it\'s gotta make you stop and think.

Like the idea of Henson , although do not know if he is a head case or not .

Callahan was a interesting toss in , am not sure if he has signed anywhere else .
