New Orleans Saints Juggle Roster to Field Best Team Possible
Earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints waived QB Sean Canfield from the active roster while signing TE Tory Humphrey to the active roster because of the slew of injuries to their three active tight ends (Jimmy Graham – ankle, David Thomas – concussion, John Gilmore – neck) on Wednesday, October 26. Today, on Saturday, October 29, they waived TE Tory Humphrey, just 3 days after signing him, and activated RB Chris Ivory from Reserve/PUP to the active roster.
Apparently, Graham, Thomas and Gilmore must now be collectively healthy enough as the Saints’ current group of active tight ends to make Humphrey’s visit to the locker room a very short one after only 3 days.
With Mark Ingram rehabbing a bruised right heel while sitting out this weekend’s game in St Louis against the Rams, Ivory coming back fully healthy from his recovery from foot surgery in the offseason and hernia surgery this offseason from the PUP list and ready to contribute in any way necessary couldn’t have come at a better time.
