Top 10 Opponents for 2004,
1. Kansas City Chiefs-H
2. Denver Broncos - H
3. St. Louis Rams - V
4. Seattle Seahawks - H
5. Minnesota Vikings - H
6. Dallas Cowboys - V
7. San Francisco 49ers - H
8. Arizona Cardinals - V
9. San Diego Chargers - V
10. Oakland Raiders - V

While it looks like a tough schedule I noticed that 4 of our top 5 opponents (my opinion) are in the dome.

4 out of our 5 easiest opponents are on the road.

Of the 5 teams we play at home, 4 (Den, Min, Sea, SF) are notoriously weak road teams.

Our two toughest road games are the Rams (they don't scare me) and Dallas (we beat them without T-rex and Joe Horn when we had nothing to play for).

I'm not sure I could have hand picked the H-V any better versus those top 10 teams.

Well, if that is the top 10 on our schedule, I see no reason why we couldn\'t go 11-5. We should be able to beat any of the teams between 6 and 10 on your list.

Of course, we wont know til they play whether we\'ll have a team that plays hard against all teams or just the good ones and loses to the bad or what. I\'d say the farther you get from picking 8-8 any year, the more likely you are going to be wrong.

The schedule does seem to have it\'s advantages. Any disadvantages?

The only negative I see is that we play the toughest AFC division (AFC West) and arguably the toughest NFC division (NFC West) as well as our own NFC South.
Although the NFC South is the weaksest division in the NFL right now.
But as the last 3 or 4 years have shown, what the divisions look like before the season starts is different from the final results. The NFC South was supposed to be the toughest division in 2003, and turned out to be the weakest.

Food for thought-

5 out of the past 6 NFC representatives in the Super Bowl have played in the same division as the Saints.
Since it\'s inception, the NFC South is 2 for 2 in making it to the Super Bowl.

Before the start last season a similar thread was started, and I gave my prediction that the Saints would only lose something like 4 or 5 games. We are all aware of how the \"team\" fared. It is because of the Saints lack of leadership and lack of effort, I DEFINITELY will not make any predictions on how future seasons will turn out. Believe me, it takes a long time to get that stuff off your shoes when you step in that pile.

Beat me to it BnB!!

Sorry, but the list of top 10 teams looks like this:

1. Atlanta
2. Tampa
3. Carolina
4. Carolina
5. Tampa
6. Atlanta
7. Anyone else...

Atlanta was 3-1 with Vick back. Carolina was in the Super Bowl. Tampa is a year removed from the Super Bowl, and is finally coming out of the cap and draft hell they were in from the Chucky deal. Expect them to bounce back. No tougher games than those.

Uhh, I intentionally left the NFC South out of my list since we play them home and away every year. It would be pointless to include them in a home-away analysis, since we play them all at home and away. But I could be mistaken.
Maybe I should have listed them like this...
Worst teams on our 16 game schedule
1. Saints
2. Saints
3. Saints
4. Saints
5. Saints
6. Saints
7. Saints
etc etc etc

No predictions until free agency.

If we sign Howard.
If we sign Smith.
If we can sign a quality DT in FA.
If we can sign a quality CB in FA.
If we can sign Wilson at LB.

Then I\'ll be guardedly optimistic.

But our front office has shown that they can\'t even sign Akili Smith when push comes to shove, so I\'m taking a \"wait and see\" approach to FA this year.
