Drew Brees said the New Orleans Saints haven't proven themselves an elite team
 

At the midpoint of the New Orleans Saints' season, two things are clear about the offense: It has not been as consistently good as it needs to be, and the players are glad their final grades haven't been set.
Several players said Wednesday the team's embarrassing loss at St. Louis last Sunday had colored the offense's production, that things are not as bad as they seemed. But all of them acknowledged a handful of poor performances has turned what could have been an outstanding record at the halfway point into a barely acceptable 5-3.
Yet, in a business that prides itself on clear-eyed grading of players on every snap, what grade should the players get after eight games?

Pretty good read on gauging our team...we have the talent to be a great team..and really when you think about it we average out with most teams because of our offense..if the D can get to the middle of the pack and actually get some TOs...Our O can score enough points..i think they would be well advised to try and establish a number one RB and try and get him some rhythm going...i don't care who just do it..i think the results would amaze them.. ..JMHO

Yes the Saints appeared to overlook the Rams. Teams have done it before. We also did this with the Cards and the Browns last year. But even during the Superbowl run, we had to pull some games out our arse to win (remember Miami AND Washington in 2009).

So it does happen. OK, NOW THE WHOLE TEAM CAN SAY WAY THEY WANT, JUST WIN SOME GAMES!!!

What's maddening is that there isn't a team in the league we can't beat...shouldn't beat, when we're playing good ball. That's why it's so frustrating to see us lay an egg.

Not trying to be the debbie downer but we hear this same ya ya after every loss. We have to do this and we have to do that. JUST EFFIN DO IT!!! One of the comments was about there "fire" or the lack of. We have talked about it a little here. The passion of 09 is no where to be found. We keep regressing into the same crap as before. We abandon the running game at a blink of an eye. We expect Brees to be superman and win games by himself. It has worked to some degree but you can easily see it's weighing on him and he is making stupid mistakes.

Can't wait to see the grades for Defense. If I see anything above a D i'm gonna call BS.

I give them a C, only because we still lead the division after all the basic math mistakes.
12-4 or 11-5 probably gets it done, but for me, how you win is important.
We've pulled a few rabbits out of the hat. I don't like that winning style.
Fundamentally executing the plan and winning going away, sets a standard for deep playoff success.
We have the parts to do it, it's what I expect from them, and I will never be satisfied until I see it every week.

Get Pierre more involved, if we started a game with consecutive run plays and short throws to the flats, the safeties would creep up. Thats when it times for deverys favourite fly pattern.
Get the RB's more involved, drews awesome - but it annoys me when there's so much pressure because it makes him look like a rookie, forcing passes into double coverage

ugh I wish this team would quit talking bout how they arent playing to there level ! GO OUT THERE N SHOW US !

The O line must play better. Running lanes non exsistant, too much pressure on Brees, No pass rush from D line, poor run defense, too many missed tackles, poor pass coverage from safety position. We need to play with a lead in order to have a chance to win games.

I'm glad they are embarrassed, maybe they will do something about it. That is one killer avatar Stato. Nice!!
