Oh my god, I don’t know what is worse, the endless Brooks bashing that was going on a couple weeks ago, or the endless wet dreams that Eli is our savor and going to lead us to the promised land.
Sure Eli is an amazing player in college, but as we all know that doesn’t translate into the NFL. I’m sure that Eli would do an amazing job for the marketing department, however other than that reason, why would we want to start all over again? If we were to pick him up, who starts as QB? Also with the cap hit we would take, we wouldn’t be able to address all of our issues on D. By no means am I a Brooks lover, however I am also not a Brooks hater. He puts up ok (if not better) numbers; he does have a couple of faults. The most glaring being his lack of leadership. However that seems to be addressed with Duece becoming more vocal. We need to upgrade the D, before we tamper with anything else. I feel that the Saints would be making a horrible choice if we got Eli, for no other reason than it’s ignoring our biggest issues. Unless as WhoDat says, we address the other issues first, then I also would be more inclined to support this idea (but still not fully sold on it).

On another note, I also agree with Gator, the threads are getting better as of late. (Where’s Billy C?)

Well now we know in most part what the numbers are Brunell is going for .

Ramsey\'s Concern Continues
QB May Seek Trade If Brunell Joins Redskins
By Nunyo Demasio
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, February 13, 2004; Page D01

The agent for Washington Redskins quarterback Patrick Ramsey expressed concern yesterday over the size of the contract being negotiated between the team and quarterback Mark Brunell of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and suggested his client would seek a trade if Brunell comes to Washington.

Brunell is negotiating with the Redskins on a four-year contract worth $20 million, including an $8 million signing bonus, sources said, a deal that would put Brunell in line with what many NFL starters earn.

Yeash I agree... while Eli in the black and gold makes for a pretty nice little daydream, it would be a huge mistake for the Saints to trade away draftpicks and to take a large cap hit to upgrade the QB position. The QB position isn\'t the problem with the Saints. It might not be the strength of the team, but the D is what needs fixing.

And does no one remember the last time a Manning played for the Saints? How many championships did they win with Archie under center? I\'d much rather the Saints be a good team with an average QB than a bad team with a great QB.

Brooks blows!
If we get Eli, we become a dynasty. ;)

Here\'s my basic point. It doesn\'t matter how many draft picks we have, because Haslett will only get 2 starters from them. If we had 30 draft picks, we couldn\'t fix our D. The same song and dance always applies to Haslett personnel decisions, \"He\'s got a LOT of POTENTIAL, he just hasn\'t developed it.\" This same statement applies to Brooks, Stallworth, Hodge, T-Sucky, Sullivan or just about anyone else Haslett has ever gotten a hold of.

If Haslett picked the exact players we all would want on D, it wouldn\'t matter, because only the players ready to come in and start would do so. Any players that need to be developed, won\'t be under Haslett\'s tutelage. We will still be scratching our heads in 3 years wondering why Stallworth never established himself as a #2 receiver and why Hodge didn\'t pan out. Draft picks are not even close to a solution with the current regime. The only hope of success we might have is to go get guys who already know how to play.

Will Eli, we have a chance to have a dynasty once Haslett loses his job here.

Does Champ just really dig the whole Native American motif, or what?

Maybe it\'s a Village People thing. :o

Yes, it\'s time for another addition to the 08 Propaganda report .

This time we will deal with the New Orleans Saints , going to Los Angeles rumor . Let\'s just say this rumor has always annoyed me , for the reason of logistics . Taglibue and his relentless deire to establish a team in the Los Angeles market area despite the failure of 2 previous teams .

Saints propaganda , has tried to establish the market was robust and ripe for the picking for the Saints if certain conditions were not met for the Saints in New Orleans .This despite the fact that 2 local teams were once again looking to use Los Angeles as a potential out of their own areas .

1. San Diego Chargers - Have been looking to get out of their stadium lease and see the Los Angeles market as a chance to widen their fan base .

2. Arizona Cardinals - With area population dwindling and general stadium attendance down , the Los Angeles market has been thought to be a place for the Cardinals to go in the event of a general league supported pullout of the Arizona area .

Looks like Spanos could be looking to make a run for Los Angeles .

Chargers | Spanos Has Held Secret Meetings With Councilman Regarding Stadium Lease - from www.KFFL.com
Mon, 16 Feb 2004 11:35:51 -0800

Caitlin Rother, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Councilman Jim Madaffer made a surprise announcement unknown to other council members last week, informing the council that he has met four times with San Diego Chargers president Dean Spanos without the council\'s authorization. Madaffer\'s meetings with Spanos began during the council\'s three-week recess in December of 2003, nearly a month after the Chargers filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles against the city in a dispute over whether the team has met the financial criteria necessary to get out of its lease of Qualcomm Stadium. The meetings were held Dec. 18 and Jan. 6, 16 and 20, each lasting 45 to 90 minutes, Madaffer said.

Hopefully Spanos will close that option for good .....
