Here are a few statistics that really jumped out from the New Orleans Saints' 27-16 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome:

Stat No. 1: Third-down conversions. The Bucs: 2 of 13 (15 percent). The Saints: 5 of 10 (50 percent). The Saints' offense is usually very good on third down but this was an outstanding performance from the defense. If you hold a team under 20 percent on third down you usually will come out on top.
Stat No. 2: Rushing yards: Bucs: 84. Saints: 195. A tremendous effort by the Saints with all three backs - and quarterback Drew Brees - contributing to this huge total. The Saints showed they were going to try and run the ball early with three consecutive running plays to open their first possession. The Saints also showed great balance. Chris Ivory led the way with 67 yards, Pierre Thomas had 66 and Darren Sproles had 42. Brees

Awesome victory for us. We finally contained someone's rushing attack and had a huge game on the ground ourselves. John Kasay is starting to worry me a little though...

Yeah. I'm not worried about Kasay either. It was a strong kick, just a wee bit off. No worries a'tall.

We run the ball well, we win the game.... Nice to see Strief's presence make an immediate impact on the O-line... Wish we wouldn't have given up so many 1st downs. That slant pass was killing us today. But still happy over all...

After last weeks ass whoopin the Oline came back and made a stand. Hats off to em for that, and I hope they stay focused bcuz NOW is when it matters most!

If Kasay does as well in the 2nd half of the season as the 1st half, we will be just fine. In his defense, you cant get em all!

I'm with you on Kasay, if it comes down to a fg outside of 45 yards, we should go for it.
