Ivory hurt again?!?!?!?

really...after 1 game??? this guy is the most fragile nfl player i have ever heard of. lets hear how many excuses people can come up with to defend him...

papz 11-11-2011 01:36 PM

Chris Ivory (hamstring, questionable) is not expected to be active for Sunday's game against the Falcons.

He isn't 100 percent and Mark Ingram is back, so Ivory may have been scratched anyway. Coach Sean Payton has made it clear that the Saints won't activate three tailbacks on game days. Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas are locked in.

It's been going on since college... this should be of no surprise.

What do you expect..its a hamstring.. dude hasn't played all year .... why do people love to hate on Ivory he wasnt even drafted!....Ingram was hurt to oh but thats ok ..he is our prize.... Ivory looks more explosive already..Give it a rest..he will be fine...Foster has been fighting a bad hammy all year..so has Johnson for the Texans...would you ditch them?

Blame the training staff..

It's the same reason Shockey was always hurt. They play mad!! They don't give a crap. They go all out when they are in. Honestly wish MORE of our players had this attitude. Way to many body throws at ankles for my liking.
Im sorry, hijacked and went defense. My bad..back to topic.

New Orleans Saints injuries: Vilma, McBride out; Moore, Robinson, Ivory questionable - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com

He is no more questionable than the rest on this list...I guess Porter is done to..cause he sure in the hell cant stay healthy...and was 2nd rd pick..

NOS2SB 11-11-2011 02:07 PM

I don't think the injury is that bad. I'm sure if we needed him, he would play. But, we don't need him because we have three other backs. I think we should keep all backs on the roster and just rest the one that's least healthy each week. Just like their doing.

saintfan 11-11-2011 02:10 PM

I agree with you NOS2B2. One has to wonder if we weren't so rich at RB if he'd be suiting up this Sunday.

KevSears 11-11-2011 02:19 PM

We ought to be thankful we've got an effective running back in Cris Ivory...nevermind the hammy. I don't know why we're grumbling....almost every team this year had running backs who have been injured. I don't care that its after just one game....we're a better team with him than without him.

AlaskaSaints 11-11-2011 02:33 PM

Ingram lasted how many games?

What's more lame, a hamstring pull or a bruised heel? How do you get a bruised heel?

But am I disappointed that Ivory cannot stay healthy? Absolutely. I don't however hold it against him. He's a walk-on for Christ's sake, not a Heisman Trophy winner. Ingram should have come out of the gate at 5 yards per carry. He did not.

THE most crucial one-yard-gain this year and he couldn't get it.

If Ivory ever does get healthy and stay healthy, Ingram will fight for a spot.

papz 11-11-2011 02:40 PM

If Ivory wasn't so brittle, especially in a zone blocking scheme, I think he could terrorize this league. Physical, fast, and dare I say explosive when fully healthy. There is a silver lining for us... people aren't going to try to overpay for his services when he becomes a free agent b/c he's so injury prone increasing our chances of keeping retaining him.

PT23, Sproles, Ingram, Ivory

Nom nom nom.

SaintsRule11 11-11-2011 03:32 PM

Given all the time he had off, I don't think this is much of a surprise. Plus, the Saints always keep injury news close to the vest, so the injury itself may not be quite as bad as we think it is. Payton is extremely cautious in letting players come back from injury.

In any case, let's hear it for one of the best backfields in the NFL! We are now the 9th ranked rushing attack and I believe we have the most talented backfield we have ever had in New Orleans.

AlaskaSaints 11-11-2011 03:55 PM

Lance Moore -

Injury prone.

He's missed his share of games and we're not willing to part with him either.

Yep, but I also think we paid a lot for him, so they'll try to resurrect him from the dead if necessary.

Speedy Ron 11-11-2011 05:38 PM

my point is, its always something. great hes out of shape and pulls a hammy. hell come back for a game or two at the most and it will be something else. who cares where he was drafted or not drafted. it sucks that this guy cant last 1 hour on a football field

strato 11-11-2011 05:40 PM

He played a whole game led the team in rushing...and could play if need be.

halloween 65 11-11-2011 06:04 PM

I'll ask all of you a question, if Ivory was on another team and healthy would you want to face him say 2x a year? I can only speak for me,He!! no, I also don't know why people are on his case, he's still young, powerful, and fast. The hammy I don't think is at all bad, I think Payton is bringing him back for the Giants game. He will be needed more then than now, if he was really needed he would be there in a heartbeat. Payton is a sly fox,we all know that especially about injuries.

jnormand 11-11-2011 06:54 PM

I say get rid of Ivory AND Ingram and use all that money to get Scott Shanle a contract extension thru 2020!

QBREES9 11-11-2011 10:52 PM

Really C'mon Man. Someone needs to get to GYM and work out

AlaskaSaints 11-11-2011 11:59 PM

Hamstring injuries are the result of too much working out and not enough stretching. Flexibility is no fun. But it is absolutely necessary if a player is going to make a career of it these days.

Blame the training staff..

I dont feel anyone is hatin'....I feel people are frustrated at his perpetually injured state.

Ivory played three years for Washington State Cougars football. Limited by injuries, in 22 games he had 91 rushes for 534 yards and 4 touchdowns, as well as 23 kickoff returns averaging 22.8 yards. When the coaches who had recruited him were replaced by a new coaching staff, Ivory found himself far down on the Cougars' depth chart. In August 2009, Ivory was dismissed from the Washington State team for violating team rules.

In Ivory's final year of college football, he had 39 rushes for 223 yards in five games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

It has been this way throughout his entire football career, the Saints knew this but I guess the limited time he would see playing time would outweigh all of his injuries.

Unlike last season we are blessed with some awesome depth in the backfield. I do not wish to get rid of Ivory but it is ok to be frustrated....

True. And if he hadn't had a ridiculous injury history he never would have gone undrafted.

strato 11-12-2011 10:58 AM

Well here is one way to look at it

Whats Ivory salary? ..I mean its not like were paying him Bush money.

Whats Ingrams?...you never hear Ivory complain...just trucks people..

I'd rather see them develop Joique Bell. I love the way Ivory runs but he isn't capable of being an NFL rb. He's worse than Bob Sanders.
