I like shanle. Seems like a good guy and he's been solid for us for years now.. but if he wasn't already slow to begin with, he sure is getting slow now. The fact he hasn't ever really lost his job speaks more to the lack of talent at olb on this team. I do appreciate the role he's played for us and I honestly hope he decides to stay around even after his playing days are over. That having been said, the FO at some point has to really address the position. Not with a lower tier free agent or a mid to late round draft pick like they have for the last 5 years but a legitimate starting quality lb. I like casillas but I get a mark fields vibe with him

Shame on you, Strato, for opening this can.

Shanle doesn't deserve a thread of his own. Especially one with talk of "solid performer" and such.

Slow.
Gets beat because he is slow.
Never the first to get hands on a runner because he is so slow.
Once a ball is caught behind his position... Well, forget it. He's too slow.

Someone please explain his lack of productivity! Seriously, a blindfolded high school linebacker, placed in the middle of the defense, would get a tackle every once in a while. This zombie has less than a dozen tackles in his CAREER!!!!! Who survives that?!

He's like a traffic cone. You have to drive around it, but REALLY? You could just run it over without any harm, right?!

LOL

Okay, Strato; granted... LOL

BUT! Explain how he "helped" us win a Superbowl! LOL

He didn't have a tackle IN the Superbowl, nor did he have a tackle in that SEASON. Okay, maybe ONE! LOL

It's truly laughable if it weren't so sad.

Imagine a TRUE, top-caliber Pat Swilling performer at his position. But you're absolutely right in that he's all we got until we GET.

All in fun,

Alaska

Wow, small world strat! Thanks for the welcome. I must confess I'm a transplant, originally from opelousas. My wife is from here though. In fact, she also grew up in south Crowley.

I'm with you on shanle. People have been calling for his head every off-season since he got here. But you look at his stats at the end of the year and realize we could do a lot worse. After all guys, there must be a good reason none of these young lb's (must've been about 20 of em by now) have been able to unseat him. I do think he's running outta gas in the ol' tank and its time for the FO to start preparing for life without him.
