That's how they are built. Their offensive line is built for pass protection first. That's the top priority. And it makes sense. All you have to do is look around the NFL and see how many quarterbacks are injured to realize how fortunate the Saints are to have a healthy Brees around game in and game out.

The other reason is the Saints don't practice run blocking and runing nearly as much as they work on passing. So, it's understanable that they aren't going to be as efficient in the run game.

The buzzword for the Saints is to be "efficient" in the running game. They need to be able to get the third-and-1s and to be able to run the ball effectively at the end of games to finish them. I think that's their goal.So far, there is plenty of room for improvement in that area. I certainly don't think it's an issue with the backs. They have plenty of talent there.

I also think Goodwin was a much better Center than a lot of people gave him credit for.

I'm not sure if I believe this.

I always liked Goody...and i know we do miss him...look at what he is doing in San Fran...making Alex Smith look like a probowler...and he is playing for a run first team...and yes we are a a pass first team...have been since Drew and Payton got here...

I don't mind ...just makes me more nervous when Drew and the receivers can't get going ..A running game will be needed to go all the way ..

Sure I don't disagree with any of this.

We practice and more reps in practice with our passing game than we do running the ball. Running game you just don't show up and run the ball its something that takes time to develop. You have to run and run and run to get good at it and we are behind. We won't catch up much with the way we are throwing Bree's into record books.

Also its hard to run the ball when you have a D like ours.

That also dictates what we have to do on Offense.

VILMA IS THE STARTER

When he returns. He's the captain of the defense and the play caller. He's definitely going to start when he's healthy. In that scenario, Dunbar likely would move to SS and Shanle would slide back to WLB. That said, I'm not 100 percent certain Vilma will be ready to return on Monday. Dunbar has played well in his absence so they have the luxury of waiting for him to be fully healthy.
Q&A with Duncan on NOLA.com yesterday. I wonder if there's any merit to that statement?

Edit: I'm sure that he meant StrongSide Linebacker and not Strong Safety after some thought.

Yeah, that would make much more sense.

we have 4 running backs that take reps running the ball during practice

the line gets plenty of reps pass blocking and run blocking

this is ridiculous. ask any lineman whether he would rather run the ball or pass the ball. they will all tell you they like running the ball better.

you think a 6'4" 310lb human wants to be a finesse player? or.....do you think they would rather take their huge butts and run it down the other teams throat?
