Ndamukong Suh suspended 2 games

1 Attachment(s)
Ndamukong Suh stomped an opponent on the arm, and for that the Lions’ playoff chances have taken a punch to the gut.
The NFL informed the Lions today that it has suspended Suh two games for stomping on Green Bay Packers lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith during last week’s Thanksgiving Day loss.
The suspension is without pay, so Suh will forfeit $165, 294 the equivalent of 2/17ths of his base salary.
"If appealed, an expedited hearing and decision would take place this week in advance of this weekend's games," a statement from NFL said.
Suh was ejected from Thursday’s Lions-Packers game after he stomped on Dietrich-Smith’s right arm early in the third quarter. The penalty gave the Packers an automatic first down, and Green Bay scored a touchdown two plays later.
Suh apologized to his teammates, coaches and fans in a post-game press conference, saying he was just “trying to remove myself from the situation” and his stomp was unintentional. About 29 hours later, he said his reaction was “unacceptable” but never apologized to Dietrich-Smith.

Great player, but the Lions are probably as deep at DT as any team in the league. It won't be a huge loss for their D-line.

ScottF 11-29-2011 09:48 AM

basically 2.5 games... seems about right.

of course, after our game Sunday, WGaS?

Budsdrinker 11-29-2011 09:50 AM

Yep. I fully expect Suh to appeal and play against us on Sunday night then serve his suspensions if it stays at 2 games against the Raiders and Vikings.

neugey 11-29-2011 09:50 AM

Cool. Presuming his appeal fails, he will miss the Saints game meaning he can't go all thuggo on Brees or one of our lineman, which is good.

The league is saying they'll review the appeal prior to our game Sunday night in the article ...

He has 3 days to file an appeal so once he files for an appeal they have up to 10 days to hear it so I doubt they hear it on Friday. He'll play against us.

I just read the league said they'd expidite an appeal and rule before this Sunday's game.

good- league finally got one right, at least from the timing standpoint.
He'll either have it knocked down by one game or not, but he'll miss our game either way

DonkeyKong Sue? Some of these names just "slay" me!!!

As a football fan, I was looking forward to seeing Suh/Fairley go up against Nicks and Evans. That's a great match up.

I agree Papz I looking foward to the match up to BUT I'm not mad that he want be playing. This guy is scare and I'm a fan of his. I don't think he's a dirty player but that was just wrong stomping on that guy.

Srgt. Hulka 11-29-2011 10:34 AM

Personally, I think they should have sent him to the house for the rest of the season and post season, if Detroit has one. That kind of **** is entirely unacceptable in my book. You don't stomp on a man with your cleats while he'd down on the ground, and then frikkin lie about it in the press conference.

Budsdrinker 11-29-2011 10:36 AM

I still wouldn't count him out of the game this week. Not until I see the report on the hearing of his appeal. I don't trust the NFL. They flexed this game for better ratings so until I see the results of his hearing I would be practicing like he is playing Sunday night and not have a D. Ware situation like 09.

Line up the Hurricanes! I'm comin' to town!!!

Suh or not!

He should be SUH-spended, not only for the stomp on the GB lineman but also for driving the guy's head to the turf 3 times while he was still on top of him. Should be suspended for a couple more games for the ridiculous excuse of trying to keep his balance, and then getting upset that no one believed him.

SAINTstunna 11-29-2011 12:51 PM

Ndamukong Suh-spended!! Thats what he gets. He need to be checked by a veteran before he hurts someone. Its a good thing he didn't have on metal kleets. With or without him the SAINTS are gonna win anywayz. LETS GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!

If the punk thug is on the field I anticipate a high motor from our Oline. This should only motivate our front line.

papz 11-29-2011 01:44 PM

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh will reportedly appeal his two-game suspension for violating the league's on-field conduct policy.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Suh has been encouraged to appeal by the NFLPA as well as commissioner Roger Goodell. It's quite possible that the suspension will be reduced to one game with the second half of last week's game counting as time served.

the NFL does not want this guy to act like an arse on national TV 2 weeks in a row.....the fact that it was thanksgiving day and its prime-time next week...leads me to think they MUST suspend him for at least the 1 game(against us)...If he does something stupid with everyone watching sunday night, the NFL will look like a bunch of fools

I would almost agree with you but considering he gave the league a black eye on the Thanksgiving Day game with very high ratings, they do not want the media aftermath. Especially after his jackassery of a public statement after.

This is his what.... second or third time in front of Goodell in as many weeks?

neugey 11-29-2011 02:04 PM

If Suh suspension is upheld, his hissy fit will look like this ...

Yippy... magic eye.

Tell me what you see?

halloween 65 11-29-2011 05:58 PM

I know this may sound crazy but I would like to see him play because we may play the niners and I would like to see how our offense handles their rush, I don't agree with the way he plays, but if it can in some way help us down the road I'm all for it. Also if he does that to one of our players he will probably get the meaning of a southern a$$ whoopin!

WhoDat!656 11-29-2011 06:21 PM

And he hasn't even apologized to the player he stomped on.

NFL.com news: Woodson: Lions' Suh has yet to say sorry to Dietrich-Smith
