Given all the recent trade rumors, who here would make the following trade?

Champ Bailey and the Skins 2nd round draft pick for Deuce McAllister.

Keep in mind, there will be plenty of good running backs available in this draft. I throw this out there, because Denver is faced with a similar situation, for those that haven't heard, with Portis.

No way in the bloody blazes. Denver is crazy for even thinking about it and the Saints would be even sillier if they entertained the thought.

Duece not only is a top ten back (at the very least) but has proven that he plays through injuries and is also a great role model for the team. A silent leader if you will.

KiJana Carter on the other hand...

Answer to question : no way in the world I would even suggest that trade. Even with the skilled RB\'s coming out in the draft, there is no way that Bailey is worth taking our arguably best player...way too many corners available via FA and the draft. But a great eyebrow raising situation...

Comment: If this materializes, I cannot thing of any possible reason that the trade doesn\'t go down from WAS point of view. I know Denver has a skill at picking up good running backs, but a player of Portis\' caliber for a cornerback and mid(?) 2nd rounder... it doesn\'t balance out in my eyes. If I were a skin\'s fan, I\'d be a lot more excited about this than a Bronco\'s fan. Flip side, I\'d much rather face Portis in WAS than in DEN, so I guess that would make me for this trade....

I do not think Denver is crazy for making this deal. Portis is a special running back, but the Broncos have proven consistently that running backs (many running backs) can be successful in their system. When was the last season Denver did not have a 1,000 yard back?

The Saints have not had the same kind of success with the running game. Remember life before Ricky? We don\'t have the system/scouting (?) that allows us to interchange running backs with the same results as Denver.

I wouldn\'t just make this deal for any player. Bailey is special. Denver has to decide whether they\'d rather sink major money into a DB or a RB. That\'s the real question in my mind about this decision.

For the fun of it , here is what you would be giving away if they traded Duece .

55% of the Saints total offense . That is what Mc Allister is and that is not even factoring in play action pass threat .

In comparison , Stephen Davis accounts for only 45 % of the Carolina offense .

I just saw this trade. I\'ll tell you what, Denver is nuts. Yeah, they\'ve been successful with backs and that\'s gone to their heads. This is crazy. A great runningback does more to change a game than any single corner can. Even Prime Time wasn\'t ever as important to his team as the best RBs were to theirs. Yeah, Denver will probably still have a decent back but in Portis they are giving away a special player. Deuce, Tomlinson, Portis, and J Lewis are the stars of the future. Denver is going to wish they had never done this... watch.

Keeping about as open a mind as possible, I still couldn\'t make the trade, due to my man-crush on Deuce. But I don\'t think it is as cut and dry as some people here are making it out to be. Having a true shutdown corner can change the face of your defense. The career of a CB is greater than that of a RB. It is harder to find a great CB than it is to find a great RB these days.
But, as Gator stated, a great RB can carry the offense. And a great RB is easier to market than a great corner (not counting Deion, he\'s the exception, not the rule).
I wrestled with this question since I initially posted it. But in the end, it was easier for me to see us passing on the trade, than it was for me to see Deuce playing for another team.
