The New Orleans Saints improved their record to 9-3 on a 4 game winning streak and grabbed a solid hold of the lead in the NFC South by 2 whole games over the 7-5 Atlanta Falcons, who lost yesterday in Houston to the 9-3 Texans. The Detroit Lions, on the other hand, continued on a downward spiral by losing their last 2 consecutive games, this one to the Saints by the final score of 31-17, and 3 of their last 5 now.

New Orleans won several key battles that wound up being the ultimate difference in deciding which team would emerge victorious in this contest between playoff hopefuls in the NFC. They won the turnover battle 1-0, the 3rd-down conversion battle 50%(6-12)-18%(2-11), the net yards rushing battle 100-87, the touchdown battle 4-2 and, last but certainly not least, they won the penalties/yards battle 3/30-11/107. The Saints had 11 penalties go against them on Monday night versus the Giants, so this was a welcome turn of events which undoubtedly pleased Head Coach Sean Payton after all was said and done.

This game started off very fast paste, but loins started gaining a lil' MO in the third quarter. Defense got big Pick, but that should have been the third on of the game. I'll take a W' with no problem but we gave up too many yards this late in the season.

Man our D has GOT to start catching INT's that fall into their hands. I could accept the ups and downs of the Defense if only they could CATCH the INT's.

I do not like the separation of our safeties to any other living soul on the field. They leave chasms that, if exploited, guarantees 20, 30 yards, paydirt.

Detroit really exposed our secondary. They better start to man-up, the way they played if I were a coach with some decent recievers I would throw alot at them, they looked bad even in double coverage. And Jenkins had better get his head out of his butt and make better reads on the qb. or we are going to get beat.
