Positives from today's game

I know sometimes its easier to think the problems we had today were ugly (the refs problems were not our fault) but I just thought it's time to think of the positives from this game.

The W is ours, we have won 5 straight and are 10-3

Chris Johnson - most said he would run riot like he has been doing recently

11 carries for 23 yards - im proud of that

No turnovers

When we ran it, we looked good, ivory had a couple good runs brought back, sproles had an awesome punt return TD brought back and Im still going to be ignorant and say Jimmys catch WAS A TD!

10-3 leaders of the NFC south, smile people, WHO DAT

CantonLegend 12-11-2011 05:27 PM

aside from a miss understanding between carl nicks and DLP, drew was kept clean.....always a plus

pumpkindriver 12-11-2011 05:28 PM

Yep, we overcame a lot of adversity today. We beat the Zebras and the Titoilers. We made plays when necessary and squeaked out a win here. Too close for comfort but we got the W.

WhoDat!656 12-11-2011 05:38 PM

And swept AFC South in the process!!

Our pass coverage was decent, except at the end when we fell back in that "prevent". Except it doesn't prevent anything...

In addition to what's been mentioned...

-Solid tackling
-Seeing Martez Wilson on the field and making plays was good to see.
-Dunbar looks more athletic than I give him credit for.
-I find very little difference between Larry Fitzgerald and Marques Colston. It just so happens Fitz has been their primary weapon for years and Colston is one of many and still produces at a high level.

eh fitzgerald is definitely in the elite group of wideouts

hes faster and doesnt drop the ball as much....he also doesnt have the benefit of a great QB or another weapon in the passing game to help take the pressure off.....he pretty much does it by himself

The most positive we won and the Bears lost and we clinched a playoff birth and now I can talk some sh!!. Feels good doesn't it........................?

TheOak 12-11-2011 06:36 PM

Winning

papz 12-11-2011 06:37 PM

Only difference I see is the speed... which is overrated. If Colston was force fed and targeted 10+ times a game like Fitz, there numbers would practically be identical imo. Remember Fitz hasn't exactly been surrounded by hags his whole career. He's had Warner, Boldin, and Breaston flanking him for quite a while.

Speed kills

Colston may not get open like Fitzgerald does...after all drew hits the open receiver. Maybe colston just isn't open as often

Fits put up good numbers with 2 pretty good wideouts playin with him. Now he's putting up good numbers with no help

Can't argue w production

I love colston and my authentic colston jersey but fitz is better...no contest

SaintsBro 12-11-2011 06:54 PM

I'm not running around in the streets with a bass drum strapped to my chest, shouting about our defense, BUT...stopped them on 4th and 1...stopped them on 3rd and goal from the 5 when it really mattered...although the defense has much work to do to improve, you can't exclude that from the list of overall positives today. Looked lousy in spots, but faced a QB they weren't prepared for and got stops when they really needed it.

|Mitch| 12-11-2011 06:56 PM

Y'all can have Colston and Fitz; I'll take Graham any day!

He's too big for corners/safeties to cover and too fast for linebackers...

OldMaid 12-11-2011 07:59 PM

My positives...
A win is a win is a win.
Another straight win.
Great.
10-3.
Super!!!
December going into the playoffs and ...is like a new season.
To get to this point is important.
The little league football teams in the NFL are separated from the big man treams, you know.
The positive for the Saints is that they are in the playoff teams right now and these past wins gives them the time to hunker down and really prepare for what is ahead.
Saints are in a good position.
They cannot relax or rest on winning 10 games.
There is still the season of three big games left for them. Every game is a big game.
You have to treat every game from Sept. on as a big game to win and a big game to lose.
End strong.

OldMaid 12-11-2011 07:59 PM

Opps, finish strong that is.

This part made me the happiest! That and we won an outdoor, cold-weather, on-the road game. Most of the "experts" said we wouldn't be able to do that because of our history on the road outdoors, in inclement weather. We sure showed them!

I do agree that Fitz is a better receiver... but as I suggested, I feel a lot of it has to do with opportunity. He does have better production and as long as Colston is wearing black and gold in the well oiled machine we have, we'll just never know how good he could have been.

We beat a wounded team on the brink of playoff elimination. Red zone offense was a felony in progress and the smegma defense makes horrid QB's pro bowlers. 37 minutes TOP and 22 points? Are you kidding? Their defensive gameplan didn't stop the run, but we abandon it to make sure enough time is left to put a game winning drive up.

I think we are good enough to win 1 playoff game. Let's hope we get a bye so we lose in the conference championship.

Thank the supreme entity of the eleventh string dimension that we aren't Dallas fans.

And? In our superbowl year we lost to what? A horrible Panthers (albeit the last game of the season) team, a horrible Bucs team (was 3-13), and of course the Cowboys. What did we do, we answered.

I'm not saying we'll win the superbowl again, but when it comes to football, only one thing matters: Win the damn game. As long as we do that, I don't care how horrible we look.
